"US Regime" is a very apt way to describe this.

I can't remember the last time a random stranger went out of their way to be kind to me.

For me that ship sailed after Charlottesville. At some point cancer has to be recognized for what it is, and as we saw with ISIS, most of the world seems to find regulation of social media acceptable when it's done to curb terrorist ideologies.

I'm so glad you chimed in. Everyone loves someone who starts a silly, pedantic argument for no good reason. That's even more true on a thread where someone wants a serious response.

I'm sure black people didn't foresee how standing next to white supremacists was in any way helpful during WWII, or capitalists standing next to communists, or Christians standing next to Muslims, but it was necessary.

It's basic history. You're going to have to figure out how to stand with people you don't like very much, as much as you enjoy the 'leopards ate your face' jokes.

Though after the last six months, I imagine Democrats would rather hide in a bunker making 'leopards ate your face' jokes or writing sternly-worded letters than actually defeat fascism anyway.

And you're going to have to ally with those people at some point to stop this fascism.

This, more than any other issue, is why Republicans ran the table in 2024. (And why it's absurd for Democratic ideologues to be gaslighting people about economic issues, as if they don't have to look at their own medical and grocery bills or paycheck stubs.)

Depends on what the NG does.

They can be used as 'protection' which would mean a defensive role in the case of civilians engaging in violence. I think the Insurrection Act has to be invoked in order for NG troops to go on the offensive, but I only know what I've read online and am no expert.

What's happening is that the other two branches of our government have (mostly) abdicated to the Executive branch; therefore, absent the lower courts who can't act in real-time for the most part, Donald has carte blanche to do whatever he wants without any meaningful accountability.

Some court or another may intervene, but it can't happen quickly enough to stop what ICE is doing right now.
