  • I'm trying to remember what that phrase about people who aren't bothered about fascism is. Something like "If there are nine nazis sitting at a table and someone is okay with sitting with them then there are ten nazis sitting at the table".

  • The only full price game I recall ever buying was Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (back when £35 was the standard "full price" price point). Now that one was worth it, but no other AAA game that I can think of has justified the cost to me. Once we're talking about that amount of money there's a lot of other things I would get more enjoyment from.

I think I paid about £10 for GTA V. I'd maybe go to £15 or £20 these days, but beyond that I simply have other things I could play.

  • That's fair. It's not actually awful, I just didn't enjoy its mechanics (and it was wildly unstable too).

  • But Discworld Noir is dreadful!

Also it has Vines being corrupt!

  • I'm pushing 40 and I don't remember when I last bought anything from WH Smiths. I used to go in all the time as a teenager but these days they seem to not have a niche. They're a zombie chain.

I don't know what I'd want them to do, but they should have done it fifteen years ago.

  • The article contradicts your point:

Legally, there is no copyright infringement here. Typefaces can’t be protected by copyright in the United States and only enjoy limited protection elsewhere.

So whether the letter forms are identical makes no difference because there is no copyright protection.

  • Based on my reading, you're not wrong, but the question is about typefaces, not fonts. Fonts are software for using typefaces in a digital medium. I seem to recall that as a result one can use a font to print out a typeface, scan it in, reimplement it from the image to create a new font and that's then considered a separate font for the purposes of copyright law.

...which sounds insane, so perhaps that loophole has been closed since I read it.

  • When I'm trying to focus I tend to listen to System of a Down or Rammstein. The rest of the time it tends to be pop music from the radio (usually BBC Radio 1) or lofi.

  • Now that I'm older I understand an awful lot of what they didn't explain and am still baffled by stuff they said I'd understand.

  • Hah, that makes sense.

  • I'm well aware that there are many different ways to format numbers and currencies - that's why I asked specifically about those that use the dollar sign.

  • Is there a country that uses the dollar sign that puts it after the number?

  • Interesting choice of engine. I wonder if anyone will put together a guide for playing it on the Steam Deck.

  • ...but I enjoyed him in those movies!

  • Here we go again. Even when he's literally found guilty, it makes no difference because there's just not the will to make it stick.

  • I watched the Mario Bros movie as an adult a few years back and really enjoyed it. It was a fun take on the lore!

The only thing I felt was weak was Dennis Hopper. His performance had strong "I'm too good for this" vibes. Based on the other things I know him from, that's wildly untrue - it should have been a great fit for him. Chew the scenery and be an arsehole - basically be the Deacon from Waterworld, or the villain from Speed!

  • Where'd I put my pith helmet?

  • Now there ain’t but 20,000 police in the whole town!
