  • If you know exactly what you're looking for and you know the seller, Amazon can be alright. I just bought an album CD there from MusicMagpie who's set up shop on Amazon.

But if what you want is vague, be prepared to be bombarded with a bunch of Chinese sellers with weird brand names going through shittier couriers than Amazon themselves. It's getting worse than AliExpress at this point.

  • Galaxy Note 10+ 5G and Waydroid. Might go for a Pixel in the future, idk - not overly happy with my current phone. I love my old Note and wish I could go back to it.

Waydroid is there so I can have Apple Music for Android running on my Linux rig.

  • iusearchlinux.fyi just for the domain name 😎

(and it's a neat, friendly instance too)

  • Not me, but someone on r/TrashTaste got permanently banned from Reddit for posting a tweet.

For context, Trash Taste is a podcast run by anime YouTubers. They had Chris Broad (a.k.a. Abroad in Japan) as a guest and it's safe to say, they're very friendly with each other so of course they'd share content involving and about Chris there. Someone decided to share Chris' frustrated tweet about North Korea throwing missiles in Japanese waters, jokingly suggesting that the Japanese military get some "Patriot missiles" (which I've been told are purely defensive). For the record, this isn't the first time NK has done this, and it's not the first time Chris has been openly frustrated at it.

This ban is ridiculous - it's not like someone is actually being threatened. It's just some grumpy British man living in Japan venting his frustrations over a dictatorship trying to bomb the country he's living in.

The tweet, and the ban image I found, are below.

  • vivaldi gang

  • I only used it to muck about with Bing Chat. But now Vivaldi can fake being Edge so you can access it without needing another browser.

  • You'd have to consume a lot for it to cause cancer, from what I recall and if - say - you're drinking a lot of soda then you've got bigger problems.

I'm not a fan of it anyway, in the case of Coke Zero it just makes regular Coke taste like Diet Coke to me.

  • If I didn't have several laptops already I'd have picked one of these up.

  • It feels like the WHO - or more realistically - the media is/was trying hard to make aspartame this by claiming it causes cancer. They're certainly annoying the soft drinks vendors using them.

    Great avatar btw.

  • Clearly not smart, they should've locked all the Doge ones to milk the crypto memers.

  • Well, since that comment several hours ago I just set up Apple Music on Waydroid, with lossless. If need be, the Android version of Apple Music works pretty well on Waydroid. There's some hoops to go through (Google's certification, the app needing fake WiFi for anything above low-quality AAC) but once it's done it works.

  • I used to have a Surface when I was at university. They were so much better to lug around than MacBooks or ThinkPads.

  • I have tried Cider before. It's a solid client, but there's some stuff that's still missing for me. I can live without lossless audio, but gapless playback when listening to albums is very important for me and Cider doesn't support it unfortunately.

  • Back when I was having issues with the Linux desktop (2016-19), I used WSL to get access to Linux's useful tools. I was always on and off with Linux, mainly due to having components that don't work with it well (mainly to do with NVIDIA and Broadcom WiFi).

Now I'm full-on Linux. Only exception is Apple Music (virtual machine) or some gaming scenarios (dualboot). Stuff like mods that work better on Windows, or steering wheel games (I have a Logitech wheel that works so much better on Windows than Linux).

  • Should also mention Nobara Linux (which is funnily enough based on Fedora) has Surface Linux patches baked into its kernel.

  • I'd be surprised, but I remember seeing a website that ran from a scientific calculator iirc. It's still very fascinating though.

  • According to the article, her friend saw her online and tipped the FBI off, and Nintendo provided them the IP address that last connected to the account.

  • This looks really nice. I've also not really seen much of Hyprland - or tiled managers in general tbh - with GUIs over terminal UIs.

  • It's unfortunate, but not much they can do. They have talked about a possible move to Gecko if retaining MV2 should be a priority, but it's not like they can do it in one day and all.
