  • I don't have a fave distro because I must back up my PC's stuff first. I plan to try Bazzite, due to issues I've heard that my laptop has with Mint...

  • Darn. That's why I'm with SMPlayer; that time continuity is extremely helpful to the point of being a requirement for me. VLC also has it but it actually makes the jump-to-time prompt vanish if you take too long to click it (which is... a bizarre "feature").

  • There are also Ludo and Parcheesi, which are effectively heavily modified variants of Backgammon for up to 4 players.

  • Does it hold your hand through only-legal-moves the way Board Game Arena does?

  • I tried so many other podcast apps, at least 3 of 4 others. The only thing I dislike is that about AntennaPod is that there is no comprehensive removal button that deletes, marks as played, and removes from queue—but all the other apps failed at even consistently downloading eps or playing them back. AntennaPod crushes all competition by light years.

  • And Hoopla Digital! They each have some things that the other one doesn't.

  • Another peak FLOSS.

Actually, Audacity lost this status when Muse Group bought it out. There was a huge community fuss over this especially in /r/Audacity when the company started adding data-tracking to it, and the protests eventually died down because they just kept muscling through their decision like Reddit did with its changes.

I still use Audacity, to be fair, but may consider Ardour that another user mentioned here...

  • Why would more people choose the version that is more expensive, but does not have more features?

It's chess.com. We are the tech-savvy Lemmy weirdos who dig around for alternatives. I'd put my money on people just literally not knowing or thinking to check for an alt.

  • They should branch out!! Does it support anything other than chess?

  • Dang, I wish I knew about Freeplane years ago. Thanks!! I'm also entrenched in Kdenlive but I wonder if Shotcut has a better UI...

  • Interesting. Does it take you back to resume if you closed it halfway through a video?

  • Ha, I've heard that even domain hosts themselves will jack up the price of a domain later after you search up its availability if you don't pay for it then and there! All powered by an algorithm, too...

  • Rarely is it only one or the other and not both or even several together, though...

  • I have not played either of these, but the premise of a dead post-MMO world, PAGAN: Autogeny, seems personally more interesting to me.

  • Respect for the GOG link (gotta reduce Steam's monopoly-like grip on digital games), but... CrossCode, despite its fantastic presentation, wore me down to the point of not finishing it. I feel like the devs ran out of ideas halfway through because all of the dungeons involve multiple ricochet-angling puzzles, even all the way to the last one. They just got so tedious and boring that I eventually ended up "finishing" by watching someone else's play-through.

It has an interesting plot, but... yeah. Anyway, that was my personal experience.

  • I read that Revolt doesn't have screen-sharing, which is a deal-breaker for my group. I wonder how well Matrix's is...

  • What do you mean? Are you implying that the non-spiritual can't do so?

  • TBH, yeah, underarm hair is unattractive in Western society (or at least in the US, I think), so I would probably shave them if I took that route. Either way, it looks more like something one would wear at home: super-casual when one should probably step it up at least just a bit when outside among strangers—but that's just me!
