  • Technically correct- it didn't as the azove group. It was a few different groups beforehand that was brought together. I don't remember the names off hand but my point still stands. Russia invaded ukraine twice and that is what keeps azov as a relevant force.

  • ? Not sure how you came to that conclusion. Asian cultures in general have a different outlook on things than say... European or American or African. That's not really a nazi talking point and that you have decided it is really is more of a you problem

  • Yeah?

1st) buzzfeed 2nd) the whole article is talking about the concern that the azov battalion could gain polotical/social favor by fighting for ukraine .. like it did in 2014.

Yes the above battalion was fully of extremists. . Yes right up until the annexation of crimea they had been on a downward trajectory with regard to recruitment, socio and political power. After the intial conflicts in 2014 there was a a resurgence. The us military refused to work with anyone known to have been associated with the battalion and/or far right extremism- so there was kind of a whitewashing that went on internally.

Your war is literally the thing that is giving azov battalion more clout in Ukraine. Whereas if you'd just left it alone ukraine was on track to cleaning up corruption and extremism.

Which is more than likely exactly why russia invaded- the country was headed towards future stability and closer relations to Europe and the west.

  • Buddy I KNOW us media lies. I also know Russian media lies. I don't follow US propaganda any more than I do Russian. Sorry you can't see that for yourself.

I do speak to things I've seen and been involved with myself though. I spent significant time in Ukraine. Became familiar with alot of the politics involved.

  • It might be considered racist a bit. I don't know because I don't have the full video so not sure where he was headed with it. As I mentioned it seemed like he was setting up to compare how Russian military is treating people less humanely than the ukrainian military.

What he's definite NOT saying is Asians are subhuman and Russians are Asians and therefore also subhuman.

It's kind of why I said my initial comment- "oh russophobia isn't real" is a propaganda technique to try to spread the thoughts that people just hate Russians for Russians sake- when if I take an equally touted stance of all Ukrainians are nazis as being equally ridiculous.

  • Buddy reddit/r/ russia was full of you like minded nutjobs calling Ukrainians nazis. There's tons of video clips of the same. Your poorly translated version is NOT what he's saying. Context matters and you getting a snippet of it is not what's being said.

  • What he said was that Russians aren't like Ukrainians. More Asian than Ukrainians are and that they think differently.

Context is important and your poorly translated version is NOT what he's saying. He's not saying all Asians are subhuman- he's saying they have a different past and are influenced by it. He's saying Russians are more violent based on where they come from and the past they've had. This is something he hadn't counted on etc.. etc.. etc.. since this is just a clip I don't know where he was going with it. But it sounds more like he saying ukrainian military is more humane with regards to how they treat people than the russians.

MY point is that you and your type will just say a thing based purely on propaganda.

  • Oh yeah- like russia doesn't lie about obvious things. Bombing civilians at railways, bombing civilians sheltering under theaters, bombing civilians in maternity wards, bombing civilians in retirement homes etc etc etc.

I'd be willing to bet money someone is deliberately misquoted or changing context of somethig said.
