  • They thought the opening act was bad, today Peter Thiel payed to have Hulk Hogan go on stage before the Trumps to psyche the crowd up.

And then Trump Jr, I think it was, claimed the opposition were all bought and paid for.

  • But there is no incentive to get more money than they need to operate, because the shareholders and board don't profit from it personally. NPR income is spent over 92% on program funding and 7% on administrative.

It's basically run the same way as Wikipedia. If enough people donated, there would be no ads at all.

  • Historically, yes. Very few cultures are known for having a large populations of swimmers in the past, even the average Japanese civillian before the 20th century probably never learned to swim despite living on a chain of islands.

  • She's the most consistently well off Democrat trader, as well as occasional speaker of the house of representatives, so the right shits on her and so does the left.

TBH I'm not that against her, she helped pass the transparency laws we currently have over traders in congress, and all of "her" trades are due solely to the fact that when she was in college she married a guy who now owns an investment firm. All of his trades belong to her by nature of joint assets. One of her most notorious trades was when VISA attempted to give her husband some amazing stock options before a big vote on regulations on creditors, of which he bought, and then she voted against VISA's interests for the regulations. Paul still made a profit, though.

  • Well, in the purely fictional hypothetical that an LLM could advance to the point of reliably replacing humans without a stark loss of quality and marginal cost-benefit before legislations step in to make the cost of increased power consumption and environmental damage reflect on what these companies pay in:

Their will be an owners class who have stake or claim over facilities and technology to utilize the AI, and then there will be an everybody else who have to fight tooth and nail politically for basic human rights as well as shelter and food. Just the current system but whether it's that much worse or better depends on how well our democracies function.
