Wow, that bad? I was aware they purged a lot of ‘amateur’ content over concerns regarding consent to upload/revenge porn, but I didn’t know it was that much.

Sounds like a good feature. Anything that stops people from doing that is great.

But I do have to wonder… were people really expecting to find that content on PornHub? That site certainly seems legit enough that I doubt they’d have that stuff on there. I’d imagine most actual content would be on the dark web and specialty groups, not on PH.

Well duh. Even when they were introduced, touchscreens in cars got a lot of pushback. I’d much rather flip a switch or turn a knob for things I do daily, rather than futz three levels deep in a car maker’s software. They put things in there that really should be simple pushbuttons.

Yeah, we stick out like a sore thumb just about everywhere. And we’re easy to spot from a mile away by the typical Dutch stuff we tend to bring along.

The Dutch certainly like to travel just about anywhere. No matter where you go, no matter how obscure or remote, chances are there’s a Dutch tourist to be found - and likely another Dutch person who’s set up a little restaurant to sell typical Dutch food to said tourist.

I do hope my countrymen behaved themselves :D I’m always mortified to see the phrase ‘Dutch tourists…’ in the news.

As a Dutch guy, that’s actually something we always need to be aware of when visiting other countries :D

The average height for a Dutch male is 183,8 centimeters or 6 feet and a bit for you Americans. Even when visiting neighbouring countries like Belgium, they’re already 5 centimeters shorter on average. Spain? 7 centimeters shorter. Italians: 9 centimeters shorter.

If I was to visit say, Guatamala on vacation, I’d be 20 centimeters taller than the average male. Heck, a Dutch teen girl would tower over them by about 13 centimeters.

Basically, we always stand out. So you at least try not to be loud and overly intimidating to the locals. Thankfully, most people just think it’s really cool to meet a friendly giant though :D

Yep. Bunch of silly ban-happy assholes in charge these days. I never even got so much as a warning on one account when it was suddenly permabanned. The comment that got me the ban? Agreeing with OP in a thread just like this that bans were getting out of hand…

And it’s happened to many, many others as well.

After the app protests, they basically put the shittiest, power tripping toadies in charge of a lot of subs, after the decent mods left or were kicked out. Well, fuck ‘em.

Reddit became openly hostile to the people and content that made it great. It’s not exactly surprising that the good users eventually went elsewhere. You could really tell shit went downhill after they killed the third party apps.

If you do that as a teacher, not only will you be getting pushback from that student and others, but also said student’s parents.

When I was a kid, you respected teachers and if you didn’t, you got punished at school AND at home. These days parents are rude assholes too, and god forbid you try and correct their precious snowflake’s shitty behaviour.

And bans only really work if the school management has your back and make it a schoolwide ban. Otherwise it’s simply not worth the fight.

Man, what a bunch of dickheads. Granted, the bakery are dummies in not waiting for the payment to clear, but still. Two grand means nothing to Tesla, so they should’ve paid regardless. The bad publicity costs them way more than that.

If you don’t vaccinate your kids against dangerous diseases, you’re a dummy. Vaccines are safe and needed to keep EVERYONE safe from outbreaks.

Frankly, vaccination shouldn’t even be up for debate. The science speaks for itself. It’s infuriating that there are people who endanger their own child and others based on a poor grasp of science and medicine.

At least ice skating and running are fairly normal sporting activities that average people can partake in. But some of those other facilities they build really have no use for most people.

Precisely. Statistically, the largest risk I took when I got the vaccine was driving to the vaccination location itself that day.

My own city has a soccer stadium. It was built with taxpayer money. It has 30.000 seats, after it was expanded twice. It had 13.000 when it opened.

The club who uses it has been a financial mess for ages.

The stadium gets used for soccer matches and… nothing. That’s the only use. You can technically rent part of it for say, a wedding reception or business event, but by and large it sits unused most days of the year.

Now imagine if this had been an even larger, even more expensive Olympic stadium. There simply would be no way to make it economically viable to keep it around post-games.

And a stadium is at least potentially multifunctional. But something like an indoor cycling track or high diving pool has fuck-all reuse potential.

Now granted, some of those spilled over to when vaccines were available in the west. China had issues with lots of cremations as late as early 2023.

Yep. About the last thing people should want is for their country to host the Olympics. Because YOU as a tax payer are footing the bill for all that infrastructure, all the event costs, while seeing no real income from any of it. And once it’s done, it’ll keep hurting your economy. And let’s not forget all that useless infrastructure that you had to build. That needs to be demolished after all…

If someone suggests bringing the games to your country, you should boop them on the nose until they reach sanity again.

Taking ANY vaccine has risks, and these vaccines even more so, considering their untested nature when they were introduced. We had to trust the science, but it was still a gamble.

I took the vaccine knowing that side effects were possible. That was a risk I felt comfortable with, knowing that everyone else who took it faced that same level of risk and uncertainty.

It sucks that some had these side effects, but the effectiveness of the vaccine has saved countless more lives.

Let’s not forget that before the vaccine, Covid was quite deadly. We had literal mass graves, trucks full of bodies, mass cremations that couldn’t keep up with the death toll. Between that and the vaccine risk… the choice was easy. We came way closer to catastrophe than we like to think about.
