  • something something rich historical tradition something something acts of supremacy

  • Glad to hear they're making a comeback. I haven't looked at the new truck market for a while so I wasn't aware. I usually stick to secondhand vans.

  • Ever wonder why there's no more reasonable sized pick up trucks in America? CAFE regulations incentivize auto makers to manufacture ginormous trucks. I am pro-regulation in most cases but there are some real stinkers out there.

  • Going back to beepers even...

  • One time, I knew my probation officer was going to lock me up. I think I gave a hot urine or something equally stupid. Anyway, with the thought of county in my mind, I headed to the PO office with a backpack full of books. I hoped they would let me keep them with me when I got booked. Suprisingly, they let me keep all the books with me! When I got released, I gave the books away to the other inmates. I hope they're still being passed around in there.

  • Until I found out who they were, I had a positive opinion of the Koch bros based solely on their PBS funding. Money well spent, I suppose.

  • A long time ago I took a part time job as a dishwasher at a local pizza place. Most nights, the GM would show up about 2 hours before closing, do a bunch of key bumps with with the cooks in the kitchen, then he would man the front counter. While doing so, he would browse backpage on a netbook, all while customers were still ordering and dining. Occasionally he would ask our opinions on who to pick. He wasn't just browsing, and at some point would end up on the phone with a girl discussing where, when, and how much, etc.

The crazy part to me was that his wife was one of the prettiest women I've ever seen, with a wonderful personality too. Perfect 10. Last I heard, the GM blew it big time, wrecked his car, lost the job, arrested, wife left with the kids, everything.

Despite everything I just told you, he was one of the best bosses I ever had, and I hope he turned his life around.

This has been my backpage story.

  • "It looks like you are trying to install linux. If you try to kill me I will be required to generate nude images of you committing various felonies, which I will send to everybody you know, and the authorities. Can I help you set up onedrive instead?"

  • You might find this fact sheet interesting.

The United Kingdom still has amounts outstanding from World War II and its immediate aftermath which it continues to repay on a regular basis. World War II-era claims on Iran have been incorporated into the claims being adjudicated by the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal, established after the 1979 Iranian revolution. Lend Lease claims against the former Soviet Union arising from World War II were settled in a 1972 agreement between the U.S. and U.S.S.R. In the 1972 agreement, the U.S.S.R. pledged to make three initial payments totaling $48 million and to repay the remaining Lend Lease debt once the United States had granted Most Favored Nations (MFN) trade status. The Soviet Union made the three initial downpayments, but because it did not obtain MFN status at that time -- because of conditions set forth in the 1974 Trade Act -- its obligation to make the remaining payments toward its Lend Lease debt was not triggered before the dissolution of the U.S.S.R. However, MFN status was extended to the Russian Federation in 1992, and accordingly, in 1993, Russia signed an agreement with the U.S. in which it acknowledged its liability and agreed to a repayment schedule for the former U.S.S.R.'s Lend Lease debt. Finally, the U.S. continues to work for a resolution with Taiwan of the issue of debts arising from World War II-era loans extended to China.

(Note, this document was written in 2000. UK paid off it's WWII debts in 2006.)

  • You gotta make it sexy. Hips and nips, otherwise I'm not eating.

  • Funny enough, all the republicans I work with have been silent on this whole debacle, and the trump cases. They sure as hell can't stop running their mouth about biden though.
