I swear I read a thread here (on lemmy) recently that one of these subtitle sites was embedding ads in the subtitles. Now that takes things even further than scummier in my opinion, especially since subtitles are for availability.

And ancestry dot com. That one still chaps my ass. My mom spent so much time in there adding in her work, and they just fucking locked it one day behind a paywall. Fuck these sites that just take the users hard work and then try and profit off it without announcing that from the get go.

Yeah, I completely agree. There's no way it would ever happen, but damn wouldn't it be beautiful to watch if it did.

At some point, people need to band together and do something. Like $12 hotdogs and beer at stadiums. If people would just collectively say no to shit like that and refuse to buy them for a number of games, they would be forced to bring the prices back down to something more reasonable. But we as a group just cannot seem to do things until an extreme is met. To put it in perspective what I am saying is, if everyone just didn't buy it, then it wouldn't become the norm.

Not sure what you are talking about. I have the freedom to not sign some dumbass agreement with tesla and not purchase a shitty looking cyber truck, and I will use that very freedom. No one is being forced to take this deal.

The hilarious part to me is that you would hop back onto the internet later with your new identity and life, and things like youtube algorithms would have you identified and linked back to your old life in about a week is my guess.

I play online using Fantasy Grounds. They have a discord and also a forum on their website that has a "Player Looking for Group" and they are pretty active. With their beta version of their software you can connect to a game and play. You just won't be able to DM until you get one of the paid versions, or a subscription. Check out their website and take a look for the forum and discord links. I posted on their discord in the Player LFG and within about a day had two games I was in that matched my schedule. I think they also host weekly games you can sign up to join just to get a feel for online play.

yt-dlp -F {youtube url} - Will list the different streams for you, which you can then individually download with "-f {stream number}". You can use ffmpeg to put them all back together after. I know op asked for gui, but I figured I would point out the command line options just in case it was helpful.

They are the same people who complain when a news story alerts them to the fact that facebook is collecting their data. They whine about how the govt should do something about this egregious act, and then share that with all their facebook friends.

I understand what the word means... And how you acquired it should matter. You wouldn't call someone, who the only way they acquired a million dollars was stealing it from a bank, a millionaire would you?
