I'm those cases isn't it because they had separate hardware built in for backwards compat? This is more of a PC style hardware upgrade rather than totally different hardware (compute wise) so it might be different for that reason?

You're the one derailing by intentionally misinterpreting and being thick about it. Highly encourage you to take a step back, look at this exchange, and think about the point and effectiveness of it all. All I can say is reading it literally made me shake my head and sigh.

See this is what I'm talking about. You're saying you've heard stories. I bet some of them are legitimate criticism, but I'm also positive many of them are from people that couldn't put on the bare minimum of effort when asking for help from strangers on the internet.

I would recommend just trying to cultivate a YAGNI mindset. I add a little more to the rationale - we are not very good at accurately predicting future requirements so rework/unraveling work becomes likely.
