I have unlimited access to eggs between my chickens, ducks and geese so I'm always looking for new ways to use them up. A friend posted this and Ming Tsai's Scallion recipe as two different posts and I figured they would be great together. They were.
I'm just in the cooking group. But world cuisine sounds good. Today's dinner was Asian scallion pancakes and Turkish Cilbir. I'm constantly doing non-American food.
I just tried adding a picture of it to this comment and got a 403 error.
Heathcliff definitely repeats some strips word for word and visual for visual but with a new illustration. But in Heathcliff they almost feel like they are far enough apart and surreal enough that it's not too noticable.
A friend was constantly posting "it's Monday my dudes" Garfield themed stuff. I never liked Garfield. Then one day he started posting Heathcliff. They didn't make any sense at all. After a few months I started to get what was going on. Then I noticed the titular character is almost never the cause of action. That's when I started editing him out. Which resulted in even more absurdism or the exact same joke still "working".
When the reddit darkness happened I started using Lemmy. There wasn't a lot of content like the endless scroll of reddit. I decided that I could put my edits here to at least contribute content instead of complaining.
Despite the occasional grumpy person that needs to let everyone know they don't approve of these shenanigans I think it's worked out pretty well.
I'd post my cooking and woodworking to the proper groups but I always end up with errors when trying to upload photos.
I do my edits each day as they come out†. Except Sunday where I add Heathcliff to something. 20+ years ago the creator gave everything to his nephew Peter Gallagher. Not the actor Peter Gallagher but a different one. Which is why we call him NAPG. Non-actor Peter Gallagher.
He started making the comic his own by bringing new characters, surrealist and absurdist humor and more anti-jokes than actual jokes.
† technically I do them before they come out. I usually get them about 4 or 5 pm the day before because all "newspaper comics" are uploaded to a few places early so that the newspapers can have them.
You are exactly on point. That's why I started doing this. Heathcliff's presence frequently makes no difference to the outcome of the joke in any way, shape or form. Though it would be more accurate to say anti joke or absurdist joke.
I do feel that in the last two months or so that Peter Gallagher has made him more central to the joke. But it's still not the majority of the time.
I guess if you have no experience with it then that's a perfect response. Meanwhile I've got $72 worth of BAT in mine and if it vanished I'd be perfectly fine losing money I never actually owned. I donate to DDG and Wikipedia each month with mine. That's money they didn't have so they are fine with that.
I used to have a lot less but this crypto spike has increased it by a lot so my holdings are exceeding my donations. Might need to give away more.
I couldn't just have the kite hanging there and I was trying to think of who would be the best person to fly a meat kite. At first I was thinking Jimmy but then I realized the clear answer had to be Meat Cowboy.
Water proof JB Weld. But honestly it should be tossed. You want a spatula with a full tang. Even after you JB weld this the metal is going to fatigue and it will break again because there is so little connection between the tool and handle.
