Agreed. My first reaction was to read the article, and it’s a third party using those words, obviously to spike engagement (lying works!).

I was saying to my wife, “I’m getting really tired of playing by the rules and losing.” So I hope they release it.

I watched a video on two LLMs fed on the history of philosophy. When they arrived at morality, it was funny to listen to them “talk” (this LLM generates a podcast). They talked about how humans strive for concepts like justice, good, or equality, but we’re very fraught with human tendencies around tribalism and brinksmanship. The AIs said something like, “It’s like they can’t imagine a species that wouldn’t have these features.”

And it’s like…yeah, good point weird autocorrect engines. We constantly impart our qualities on to things, but that’s just the blind spot of our superiority on this planet. Why wouldn’t aliens or AI seek a system in which all are valued for their best qualities?

Humans are still animals, very much so. We compete, we fight, but it’s all one species. I wish we would wake up and realize it.

Those 1000 people are massive evangelists for him. I don’t mean transactional as purely money. If Trump gains value & there’s no risk, why not take it? He gets to look like some benevolent person, he gets more supporters, and they are the most rabid. They’ll go out and recruit more people.

I don’t disagree with you that financially, there really isn’t much gain, but cult power, there’s some to gain.

I would bet per head/weight/size, they likely do. Like a single car $9 / 4 people vs. bus charge / bus population, I would wager the bus rate is better for them, but it’s just a guess.

I would be careful with that bet. Two of his major qualities are:

• Narcissism
• Transactional

You’re supposed to be managing a household with a partner. Instead, it often becomes women who carry the load of housework, which is unpaid labor—try to hire a house cleaner for free to prove my point. 53% of men help with house chores. 93% of women help with house chores.

To your point, you’re more likely to get divorced if you spend more money on a wedding. And large weddings are typically a waste of money. But blaming women about divorce rates while men aren’t contributing to the work required to support a family is also a bad argument. Support is more than money.

I make 6x what my wife makes. It doesn’t mean I get to skip out on chores or even should skip out. In reality outside this stupid capitalistic hellscape, her time is just as valuable as mine because our lives are equally valuable. No one wants to feel alone in dealing with bullshit.

You’re free to have your own take. I don’t think the intention of the worker changes the situation for me. They want better, and so does the scab. /shrug

This analogy isn’t exact, but there doesn’t seem to be much functional difference between them and scabs that cross strike lines. This is like the company fires the union/workforce before a strike to predatorily hire scabs. I know the system sucks for H1-Bs, but they’re lowering the quality of life for an industry.

I agree with other posters that, in theory, this program is morally fine. However, its real world application is exploitation, for the previous workers & the new workers. I’m against exploitation and therefore do not support the program at the moment, especially with these immoral asshats championing it in this way. It’s mask off, “We can exploit them!” Fuck that.

As far as the SCOTUS has said, he can do a lot more than firing, which is my biggest concern…

Lawrence Kohlberg's theory of moral development comes to mind for me. A lot of people get stuck at authority or social contract. It requires deeper levels of thought and consideration to expand your circle of care.

I do hope the infighting causes inefficiency and inability to make good on some of these promises. What appears to be coming is a rapid nose dive for the US, both economically and socially. A crippled middle class is easier to control, especially if they corrupt UBI or something to save themselves (see Captain Laserhawk).

Democrats are far from perfect at the moment, but at least there’s a semblance of importance for education, diversity, democracy—people like Vance or Elon promoting “Dark Enlightenment” is the type of philosophical thinking that could absolutely destroy us.

I hate holding out for the mortality of humans, but some people truly bring pain and suffering at scale to this plane of existence. It all seemed so hopeful not long ago.

This kind of rhetoric is abhorrent in the public sphere. It’s a further erosion of social norms and expectations of leaders in society.

This election, unfortunately, validated these behaviors as acceptable. It makes me gravely sad for the US.
