Been on Graphene for a bit less than a year, its been great. You're correct about google apps being regular apps with no special perms, but also there are sandboxed user profiles so if you're particularly concerned you can keep all your dependent apps over there with double sand boxed google 😛

Ive only had one or two issues with app compatibility but they have a setting to apply a less secure ruleset thats worked for me both times.

Democrats have always been fascist. Just look at their rhetoric about how "only they can save the country" (even though they've never done shit about shit even when they had a trifecta)

Welcome! My experience has been seamless, I think most of the idiosyncrasies have been covered in other comments already but Ive had zero issues with base functionality "out the box"

Does it have any benefits over just running pihole, other than reliability?

I can add that ive also had 100% success with that setting, but I've only needed it 2 or 3 times.

Yeah, while obnoxious us patriotism used to be relatively innocent, at this point I immediately assume anybody with a flag is the absolute worst of us.

All of which is against the flag code too, but while they'll attack you for letting it touch the ground they'll lose it if you can them out for their flag trunks cause laws end when their convenience and desires begin.

My vaugue understanding as a dumb American is that folk in other countries by and large aren't about repping flags in the first place, flying them, wearing them, etc

While dems play this controlled opposition civility card, Republicans will be mobilizing their supporters and riling them up completely unchecked because yeah maybe calling for violence is bad but calling somebody bad for doing so is worse

Somebody who only speaks violence will not respond to peaceful methods. I'm not excited by the prospect of violence but we also can't just let ourselves be trampled because of some misguided notion that "Well, they decided on violence, there's nothing we can do because violence back would make us worse 🤷‍♂️"

Even if I'm just out for a walk, on side residential roads with no sidewalks but no traffic, people will swerve toward you instead of around you. At an intersection by the interstate and a Greenaway, I get cussed out about twice a month while crossing on the pedestrian signal cause it holds them up for 10 seconds I guess.

On a scooter, drivers flat out play chicken and try to spook you into wrecking.

I understand the face value of it, but I really hate the argument of (basically) "Linux isnt going to take off until it just becomes Windows (or emulates it perfectly click for click)"

People always act like Linux is less buttery smooth two click accessible as a style choice, but cranking out a system like that and keeping it up costs money. If Linux dedicated to supporting every dongle on the planet themselves and all this other shiz, they'd have to monetize too.

So much less now needs the terminal. Personally, I don't get why people don't mind doing a search to find where windows hid some particular setting 3 submenus deep, but lose their fucking mind over the thought of doing a search to double check which command they need.

Linux doesn't need to change, people's priorities need to shift. This obsession with free services and not having to know shit about how shit works is how we got here, and shaking that is the only way out. For example, People will recognize that google is bad but if you point out you can get a domain and basic email hosting for $20/yr or whatever, its always "sucks teeth yeaaaaa but i dont have $20 for something like that and idk how stuff works" conveniently, you dont need to "yeaaaaa, but nooooooo"

Like, I hate cars, but I can't imagine not knowing how to change a tire or my oil, etc basic stuff, but there are people who call AAA when they get a flat. Its nuts to me.
