Yep, Steam is my "video game piracy canary". The day I lose access to my games on Steam will be the last day I ever buy any video game, and probably any non-physical piece of media for the rest of my life.
How can I ever give Nintendo money ever again after being brazen enough to attack somebody like this? Costing a company a bit of unrealized profit can never be a good enough reason to financially ruin an individual--anything less than this is simply admitting subservience to our wannabe overlords. If a company or entity wants to make big money, they are going to have to come to terms with the fact that this sort of thing is going to happen, and get over it.

What does a nuclear power plant have to do with tracking my Google searches? You think TIkTok on someone's phone is going to allow them to disable power plants? That's much more of a stretch than what I was getting at. The FBI, and probably whoever you would deal with, are specifically buying personal data for this exact purpose--to build profiles on people and to use it against us for whatever purpose they desire.
The FBI has the power to arrest you tomorrow for all sorts of reasons. The Chinese government has the power to do what to you, again? Sneak in some propaganda in the ad feed? I'll take the propaganda lol
Yeah. The risk of piracy is just the cost of doing business, imo. If you want less piracy, all they have to do is improve price and ease of access. But they've already run the numbers and determined that the current price point is where they will see maximum profit. It's like they've approved the "theft" themselves haha
Another way to look at this, is that we were all shoved in to a society with a financial system that basically requires the expenditure of money to get along. If I'm not entitled to the media, why are they entitled to my money? At the end of the day, none of us asked to be here. Since the dawn of time, people have been taking what they've wanted and what they've needed--be thankful we're in a phase of society that were taking pirated media and complaining about pricing, instead of taking eachothers lives for survival (which isn't even universally true yet lol). I would also argue, but not with any conviction, that we need to consume at least -some- of this media to be able to participate maximally in society. Everyone loves movies and media, and if you're the one person not consuming it, you're an outcast. Outcasts proverbially die alone away from the warmth of the communal fire. It's just human nature, tbh
Hate to say it, but I actually enjoy my job. Would I rather be playing video games and vacationing with friends in the mountains? Of course. But I'd also like to eat potato chips and pizza every day, which would get boring. I work in oil and gas, in environmental, and the money is decent and everyone is just trying really hard to do the right thing and meet government regulatory requirements at every step--regardless of mainstream anti-O&G sentiments. I deal with technical challenges, engineering complexity, and social diversity every day and my brain is better off for it than if I were just cozy on my couch instead. I do consider becoming self employed though--not because I hate my job, but because I would appreciate more control over my own life.
I get the same vibe. I don't care about DJTs hurt feelings for being called "small dick", but I do recognize that there are people out there who actually are "lesser endowed", and its gotta be frustrating to see it used as an insult all the time. Maybe having a "small dick" isn't the greatest, but its also totally acceptable and people shouldn't be made to feel negatively about something they really had no control over. My two cents lol
Damn, what country do you live in? I'm in America and I have to keep reminding my conservative friends how close we still are to a world that sterilizes and murders gay people, and that their votes pull us closer to that world every time they win an election cycle.
Who are you to decide whether it's the right choice? You can't make that choice for other people. You have no right to tell them what they can and can't do, and they have to find out for themselves. And what you said about the puberty blockers goes both ways--if someone can't go through the procedure on time, not only will they be left wondering their entire life, but they'll also know that it was your fault for telling them they couldn't. You don't get to do that.
People should be allowed the option to make mistakes, if they are unfortunate enough to choose incorrectly. For instance, as when your parents created you.

We'll just install razor wire along the Red River to drown moms and their kids, build detention centers and kidnap children to satisfy the vast worldwide human trafficking market, all while simultaneously handing these invading Texans 5,000 dollar checks, free bus tickets to anywhere, and free government-provided housing or whatever the Republican talking points are.

For reals. Why would anybody just waltz in and choose to let extra murderers and rapists go when they could instead take them off the streets? It's just a proclamation for candidates and their drones who have no new ideas or strong positions geared at advancing society.
