  • Francis was known as a liberal reformer, making headlines across the globe by permitting the blessing of same-sex couples and promoting global action on climate change.

Francis worked as a janitor and a chemical technician in the food-processing industry before entering the seminary.

He was outspoken about clergy abuse and called on the Catholic Church to "act decisively" against paedophile priests just months after his 2013 appointment.

  • Randomly related, is there a french torrent tracker? I've seen some but they're all basically english american movies with french subs or dubs, looking for a tracker that focuses on french movies in French/Québécois natively

at the moment i mainly watch french based tvs and movies on https://www.tv5mondeplus.com/en

  • I can't look at this graph and say that he is well liked by any demographic

Including this one which suggests if you're 40 or over you either haven't heard of him or hate him

  • I can't really confirm this, even in his target market (young boys) he's not popular

    https://yougov.co.uk/society/articles/47419-one-in-six-boys-aged-6-15-have-a-positive-view-of-andrew-tate

1/6 is positive which leaves 5/6 who either don't know, don't care or don't like him.

One in eight boys aged 6-15 (12%) say they agree with Tate’s views on women, compared to 17% of his views on masculinity and what it means to be a man, and 20% for his views on work and success.

The older we get the more unfavourable we view Tate

    One of my favourites:

Louis Theroux's View Of Andrew Tate

  • The solution to false masculinity is to replace it with real masculinity

The overwhelming majority of men think Tate is a dumb twat, it's just that being a regular man doesn't get clicks or attention in the clicks and attention economy

  • thank you mitch hedberg :P

  • The only issue is that the Arab neighbour right next door (Saudi Arabia) is also at war and bombing the Houthis

And right next door to Yemen is Oman which is a peaceful place currently being bombed by no one

  • Scientists have estimated that the power requirements of data centers in North America increased from 2,688 megawatts at the end of 2022 to 5,341 megawatts at the end of 2023, partly driven by the demands of generative AI

    5341 Megawatt = 5.341 Gigawatt

so a 2.6 GW increase, jeez that's a fair amount

The US set a record by adding 50 GW of new solar capacity in 2024, with solar and storage making up 84% of new capacity.

    https://reneweconomy.com.au/solar-smashes-us-records-with-50-gw-added-in-one-year-as-trumps-energy-secretary-gushes-about-gas/

Global renewable power capacity increased by 585 GW in a single year

  • thanks, you're clearly a genius, these LLM providers should pay you a lot of money to implement this, you'd save them millions 🙄

  • tbf to the US they fund an absolute ton of things, eg. I didn't realise they helped fund lets encrypt and now the CVE database either, I assume it'll be a drip feed of things being cancelled slowly over time as they find them all
