  • Before you own cats: "Oh no, cat claws are scary!"

After you own cats: "Yes, this is day 4 of my baby giving me clawed arm hugs and gnawing on my fingers. Yes, I know I'm bleeding."

  • Ever since my early Demonoid days I've made sure to seed at least 2.0 ratio. I think when I left, I was at 2.6. Now I just make sure to seed a week minimum, and two if the torrent is hurting for seeders. I'll remember this. What I'll do is stream via realdebrid on my TV while I seed the same on my PC.

Basically, I was downloading and seeding then using a USB to watch on TV, but my TV and Bluray player are super picky about the codec formatting. Realdebrid was my solution. When it comes to just watching by myself on PC, I still grab the torrents anyway.

  • If I can recall the vid I watched on GIMP 3, the whole UI is now customizable with CSS. You could dive a bit into it and see if you can change out or recolor the icons (recoloring should be doable if they're SVG, but you might need to decode base64, change the color and recode it into base64).

However, it shouldn't be too long before custom UIs start pouring out. So if CSS isn't your thing, keep checking back and see if someone has made something that ticks all your boxes!

  • It really all boils down to "live how you want as long as you're not bothering others". If you believe heavily in it, then live by it, but stop slamming it into the heads of people who believe the opposite or just don't care.

It's part of the reason why younger gens cringe at religion. "Do this or you will go to hell, but do it through us because you'll go to hell if you do it through another religion." It's enough to make anyone balk, and rightfully so. The ground is always shaky, it just doesn't feel as shaky if you shake with it.

    ...Now I want a shake.

  • Yeah, eventually it was. The last leader of the Trade Federation was a co-conspirator of Darth Sidious' (they had no idea it was Palpatine). Eventually they just got used and eaten up by the Empire.

  • Now the real question is... do you use fish shell?

  • I'm in the same spot, tbh. I want to do something, but I just can't figure out what yet. I'm not giving up though. We can definitely do this.

  • They need GOSHA. Galactic Occupationaly Health and Safety Association. I mean, they had a Trade Federation, wth. I guess we can chalk it up to being a long long time ago when safety wasn't as mandatory.

  • Maybe Anakin pointed the Death Star in his face to check it out after it was made. Like father like son.

  • I partially agree. Intelligence tends to also go hand in hand with anxiety a lot of the time. A lot of true geniuses don't even know what social integration is. There are a lot of extremely intelligent people that shy from society as a whole.

It might be just the groups I've been in, but I've seen a lot of escapism in the intelligent individuals I've met, and people are all too happy to just ignore their existence and flock to the few shining stars. I can't quite really put words to this, so I may not be really articulating what I mean properly. Sorry about that. I'm honestly just concerned for the good people that get squashed by society. That just don't fit in. Most of those individuals tend to be highly intelligent, however, ridiculing people who aren't as intelligent is the same deal.

I guess I mean to say that my people are the hiding people. The people who have something to say or to contribute, but this fast paced world is just too much for them.

  • I'd go so far as to say it's probably more entertaining than the finished product.

Edit: I also didn't see anything about pirated content images in the rules, but if this breaks any please feel free to remove.

  • I use Krita, Aseprite, and Gimp. I must say, though, I'm loving Gimp 3. Now if we could just push past the proprietary docx plugins bullshit and make odf industry standard...

Edit: Ah, shoot. I forgot Inkscape for vector art. Shame on me... I love Inkscape.

  • I believe that its pointless to argue this way or that about antinatalism, as we no longer have control of a population encroaching 8 billion. It just becomes a moot point to bash each other on over the internet (which can be said about a multitude of other subjects).

I'm not going to have kids. That's just what I want. Going extreme on antinatalism or pronatalism is just circling back to telling other people what they should do with their bodies. Everything is just so extreme these days. Its do or die in the eyes of the public, no matter what you do, and its grating.

  • I believe that intelligence is stupidity in the opposite direction, but not in the way that most think.

Edit: Let me clarify that anything in the extreme is fallacy. Intelligence becomes isolation, wisdom becomes condescension, stupidity becomes ignorance.

Yet most seem to think excess amounts of wisdom and intelligence is tantamount to success and even being just a little bit stupid is something to ridicule. I will die on this hill.

  • That's exactly my stance too, tbh. I used to be extremely extroverted 10+ years back. I'd hit bars and just meet some really cool people. I'm a friendly drinker- sometimes a bit to oversharing, but better than angry. I'd talk to anyone with no fear and made a lot of great friends and acquaintances that way.

Now I probably drink once every couple months because I live by my sister and she has a big back lot with a fire pit. She has to literally pull my teeth to get me out, though. They probably party every other week and even that is just too much for me.

I'd much rather have a quiet day booting up modded Minecraft and playing with my gf on local lan, writing my book, or cuddling up with dinner and watching a movie.

  • Wait. What if I'm a millennial that doesn't want to leave my house and spends all day consuming garbage content? I won't go so far as to say brainrot, but it's not really benefiting me in any way.

Though I will say I do like a good IPA but am not limited to IPA.

  • I love btop, too, though I tried out gotop and it was actually pretty slick.

Then there's my love, Midnight Commander, but Yazi, Ranger, and Superfile are all great alternatives. TUI file managers are the best compromise between the dangerous sudo rm and the sometimes overbearing GUI file managers.

I use GUI and CLI evenly and TUI really hits that sweet spot for me.

  • CLI this, GUI that. Where are my TUI degens?

  • I did read this somewhere before. I just have to take my chances at the moment. My other option was Windscribe, but unless you're paying for a year+ their prices are astronomical.

  • I love Mullvad, but if you need P2P its not the best option. If you just need a VPN, though, its amazing. Today I just switched to AirVPN and am running it on Arch through Eddie. Have my qbittorrent set up to only allow connections through Eddie and just forwarded my first port. I'm very happy with it.

I think the only downside is that I could get Mullvad for 5eur a month on a month by month basis. AirVPN is 7eur or 15eur for three months, so I have to lock into the three months to get the same price.
