I'm amazed people care the slightest about this...different countries call the same places different things, it's exceedingly normal and nothing out of the ordinary.

I use a boox leaf 2, it has android without google play services OOTB, you can install that if you want and you can side load apps like normal android too. It has a nice crisp screen, adjustable backlight (color and intensity) micro SD slot in addition to the 32gb internal storage. It will open pretty much any eBook format out there, and you can also use kindle app and adobe digital editions for DRM books (if you don't strip the DRM)

I highly recommend it.

and then i saw they had an e-reader and got all excited... They charge €610 for that thing, holy crap that's stupid expensive.

Maybe, maybe not it's hard to say. I think most BL printer owners don't really care or don't want to mess with soldering tiny wires to tiny pads on their board and mess with flashing the device. The people buying these are generally not the tech-fiddling type.

12TB plan is €50/month though without a promo, which IMO is really fucking expensive.

Looking at the board, I think you're right but it's definitely a custom board so exposing the UART might be fairly difficult.

That doesn't mean it's the board actually controlling the printer though. It could just be used as an interface component because they're easy to use as the middle-man on network connected devices.

Many feel betrayed because he (partially at least) politically aligns with someone (and something) they loathe intensely. The feeling of betrayal probably comes from an implied idea that because they align on the issue of digital privacy they naturally do so in other aspects, and with the comments made by the CEO that idea is burst and someone who once felt familiar is now foreign.

Reading the article, that doesn't seem to have had the slightest impact on this. They tanked because of shitty and sketchy management

My ability to make this has no influence on whether or not it's art.

Just because a graphic designers product is visual does not make it art. Art is worthwhile to loose yourself in, it inspires emotion, it makes you think. Graphic design like this does nothing of the sort.
