I can't for the life of me understand why the NDP and the Greens don't team up and aggressively campaign for electoral reform.

I don't know why, but I've been in a particularly good mood this week. My boss is out of town, which definitely helps, and Christmas went relatively okay which is nothing short of a miracle (only one person had a breakdown, and it was at the very end, and it wasn't even me!*)

In any case, I'm glad to be in better spirits after a really rough November and December, seasonal depression hit hard this year.

*For anyone curious (and because I feel like oversharing for once); it was my mom after I called her out on her complete lack of effort to gender me correctly. It was an accumulation of various other things going on in her life that triggered the breakdown; her mom's health is rapidly deteriorating and she's dealing with my very depressed younger brother who still lives at home. She took it a bit rough on the spot, but afterwards asked me to send her resources to learn more, she's been listening to a few podcasts hosted by queer people, and she says she looks forward to talking to me more in depth about gender. I'm lucky to have decent parents.

I've had some very nice decafs but they're definitely trickier to nail down.

I've found that the best decafs were decaffeinated using the Swiss water process, so I'd look out for that. I'd also keep in mind that decaf beans are more brittle, so dialing in the grind size can be a tad more fickle.

I imagine they'd be in favour, seeing as animal consumption necessitates more plant foods than a vegan diet. Feeding calories to livestock and eating them is much less efficient than directly eating plants.

Female mammals, including cows, produce milk as a result of pregnancy in order to feed their young. The dairy industry is for-profit, they're not going to let their dairy cows have downtime from producing milk if there's money to be made.

The meat and dairy industries have lobbied hard for ag-gag laws criminalizing photography on their farms after abuses have been discovered by undercover investigators and activists. It is undoubtedly a part of animal agriculture. Here's a whole paper about it, if it interests you.

It definitely isn't the worse part of the miserable lives we make them live after breeding them in massive numbers. It's probably a relief at that point.

Also, just a sidenote here, I scrolled a bit through your history and you seem to go on the defensive for meat and dairy whenever you come across anything relating to veganism or the negative impacts of those industries. You engage with vegan content much more than I do and I'm vegan! I don't think I can change your mind about veganism, nor do I really feel the desire to write any more than I already have. But, I don't know, maybe go comment on stuff you enjoy rather than getting riled up about this stuff? It might make for a more enjoyable experience on lemmy.

Eh, I won't die over 20$, it's due to something out of their control that anyone could have seen coming, and I've been quite the satisfied customer since I've been using Real-Debrid. I wouldn't judge anyone for doing a chargeback, but I personally don't really feel the urge to do so.

I live in Canada, so I'm obviously biased in the sense that we're one of the countries most affected by US politics, what with them being our largest trade partner and having a massive land border with them.

That being said, are you unaware of the global rise in right-wing extremism and fascism following the 2016 election? The US is the richest country in the world, with the largest military, and they also have a tremendous amount of soft power (at least in English-speaking countries) through their cultural influence in media exports.

I don't understand what you gain by pretending the US isn't a massive global power with huge influence over international relations.
