  • If I have it right, it goes like this. I purchase the font package, the seller includes hidden in the files an identifier so they know it's mine. I share the files across the seven seas. The seller keeps a lookout for their fonts being shared, and spots it in the wild, downloads it and finds out who's it was.

  • I recommend next time to use btrfs. With / and /home (at least) as separate subvolumes. Each subvolume will use the space it needs, and no more. If you have a 500Gb SSD with 300Gb in /home, and 20 in / they both have 180Gb they can use.

And when you manage to fill the 500Gb, it's easy to just add another drive to the volume.

  • I had a 6 month old Acer laptop that started misbehaving so I ran Memtest, it took hours, but found faults in the memory. So I took it back to the shop, they sent it on to Acer who sent it back saying Linux was the problem and I should only use windows. But they replaced the main board, "just in case"

  • But a much harder target, as servers will usually have someone at least semi-competent keeping them updated. Until rising costs and you know, the economy, force the ceo to choose between an IT department and a new boat.

  • Yes, only include a type of nuclear reactor that hasn't ever been built, and don't include any other nuclear plant in the study. While we're at it, don't include the costs of carbon sequestration with the coal and gas plants.

Oh look at that. The government will use this study to show they must build more gas plants.

  • I like that one podcast where they established that a dwarf was caught in a dimensional rift and went to Scotland for a number of years before finding a way back home. But he brought back the accent and all the dwarves loved how it sounded so now all dwarves speak with bad copies of a Scottish accent.

Probably because the DM can't keep his accent straight. But fun nevertheless.
