  • It's a way of keeping score. They don't care where the money comes from any more, just that they have more than some other guy.

People who care about people generally don't get rich, because they are kind and helpful people and will spend money on others.

  • My work was evacuated once for a fire alarm (false) and we all kinda stood around waiting for the firemen to come and let us back in. While we waited we chatted. But I realised that I couldn't understand what the people four feet away from me were saying. I could hear the noises coming from their mouths, but I couldn't understand them. When the alarm was switched off, I could understand them.

    Brain is weird.

  • Pine was already taken by an email reader. One of the early ascii email readers was called elm, for ELectronic Mail. Pine was made after elm and it stands for Pine Is Not Elm.

  • I had an Acer laptop once. I had Ubuntu on it. I had problems with random crashing after a few minutes, I ran memtest, it took a few hours for a full test and came back with a whole slew of faults. I sent it to Acer under warranty and they told me that Linux was the problem and I should leave windows on it.

  • Think big. This may have had a target. But hitting the target only wasn't possible so everyone got hit.

It's possible those responsible only had this weapon that was capable of hitting the target, maybe the plan was to disrupt world flights to make someone late tomorrow, who knows. Maybe poo-tin or Xi-the-Pooh wanted to hit America and its allies?

  • Yes. You're right. All OSs have their faults. But this is one of window's faults.

But this is a Microsoft problem mostly because all the news reports are saying it is.

Anyone in Microsoft sales or marketing is going to have a tough time for a while.

  • In a way it is a Microsoft problem. Windows can't handle live updates to the system like Linux can. Security updates mean downtime to be scheduled. So they need a program to do security, so CrowdStrike comes in to do security for these companies since Microsoft can't protect them. And mistakes happen.

  • Not sure what you mean, but Ukraine and Zelensky have been marketing themselves all over the place. They need all the help they can get, and they are doing whatever they can to boost support. So far pootin hasn't achieved his goals so it's working.

  • Trees should never be used for "credits". I see companies planting trees in Australia and selling the credits. Australia where fires rage every summer burning the forests to the ground. It's a more or less (depending on the point of view) natural cycle and imo any tree planting in Australia is at best carbon neutral.

  • And don't forget the division. A piece of shit, is bad, like a car that won't start, or a selfish person. A big piece of shit or a huge piece of shit is worse, but it's never a whole shit, because then it would be The shit, and good.
