I went Sony recently too because of how garbage LG and Samsung have been getting. Only problem is Sony decided to rebrand fucking HDMI-CEC as “BRAVIA Sync” and make it not work. Other than that, the panel is gorgeous and it’s not even an OLED.

To this day I don’t understand how Microsoft paid OpenAI $Texas to license their tech and used it to make… ChatGPT, only worse.

I would like to see them go back to just plain old numbering and call this one the Xbox 363.

I take that as a compliment.

Why don’t people strive anymore to be the kind of person who can slip and fall without strangers celebrating it and wishing it had killed them? I mean if I woke up and knew that random people literally wished I would just die and go away for specific reasons related to my actions and not from widespread demonization through propaganda, I’d have a major existential crisis and reconsider a lot of things about my life.

But then again, I have a conscience.

I actually enjoyed Dark Fate well enough. It made some ballsy decisions and at least made a modicum of sense.

The Rock decided that Republicans buy too much of his shitty tequila to risk taking a stand against things like Actual Fascism right around the same time I got fucking exhausted of seeing him everywhere. I’m done with that meathead.

Solo is a great movie. I know it tried a little too hard to answer every question ever about Solo’s backstory, but apart from a clunk here and there, it’s exactly what the idea of “A Star Wars Story” should have been. I would have signed up for more.

The only difference between the first option and the response is that the response posits that all possible timelines exist in advance and rather than generating a new timeline with your decisions, you simply navigate to the one that represents them. It’s a distinction without meaning, especially because the first option doesn’t strictly specify whether the timelines existed in advance or not. It simply says “you branch off into another timeline” with no requirement that it be one generated as a result of your actions.

The second option is called “closed loop” or Novikov self-consistency and specifically requires that the outcomes of your choices align with the past already as defined, simply in ways you did not know. It’s what they use in 12 Monkeys and the 3rd Harry Potter book, and it limits free choice, unlike the first option and what the above poster’s response stated.

I think what you’re doing is combining closed-loop and multiverse theories to say that the multiverse theory IS closed-loop simply because the multiverses existed in advance, whereas closed-loop is intrinsically single universe/timeline.

I actually spend a lot more time on PSVR2 than Index these days, and when I do switch back to Index, I kinda miss some of the features.

If money is no object, I think the current best arrangement is probably something like a Bigscreen Beyond with Audio Strap, Index controllers, and the requisite lighthouses. But that’s about $1600 compared to the PSVR2, which was on sale for $350 over the holidays. PSVR2 games are generally more polished, but you also don’t have the bonkers modding scene like PCVR does. You can run PSVR2 on the PC now, but most of the best features stop working. So there really isn’t a perfect solution.

It’s just the first one, only specifically a version where all timelines exist and you simply navigate them. I can see how it might feel like the second one because the timelines already exist, but from one’s subjective viewpoint it’s #1.

I had a lit professor once who would do oral quizzes on the reading but anyone with half a brain could get literally 140% on them without doing the reading since he’d also give extra credit questions.

The first time through the quiz one day, he asked something like “Who killed Achilles? A: Paris. B: London. C: Berlin.” Then later, when repeating the question, he said “A: Paris. B: Berlin. C: London.” Process of elimination.

I’m not even kidding about the city names.

On top of that, even if he didn’t give it away in the question, you just had to wait until he read off an answer and suddenly the entire class started writing. Dead giveaway.

Chiming in. The teaser trailer was mediocre at best and I was expecting the worst. The game is fucking phenomenal.
