Yeah performance isn't that great, its single threaded so if a task is taking a while all of emacs is frozen. It usually isn't terrible though and is better than VS Code, and the text editing part is faster than VS Code on large text files anyways.

Meow mode in emacs uses the same philosophy which is pretty decent.

I think most computers have at least that much ram these days, my phone has that much ram.

Its not open source, its source available because you can't distribute modifications to unreal.

You can't play VR on linux without significant pain and most VR games are from small devs who don't do unethical stuff like pay-to-win.

Yeah that seems about right, there hasn't been a new release since January of 2022. If you check the github, its still getting commits, but they aren't in an actual release yet.

You could just install neovim on termux and get the full experience.

I'm on NixOS also but I'm not using org-mode for my config, so idk how to help with that. If you do c-h ? you can see all of the help commands, like c-h m for your current keybinds, c-h v for variables, etc. It says just the key you have to do after doing c-h. Also if you use the which-key package, there's a minibuffer that shows ways to complete a command after doing something like c-x in a list of what command happens after you do each possible key after it. Oh yeah I'm using vertico mode which shows all the functions when I hit m-x and is kinda like autocompletion in an ide except for m-x.

Qubes OS is pretty secure, everything you do in it is in virtual machines. That includes putting wifi and usbs in separate virtual machines. The root virtual machine is completely separated from everything else so any attackers can't get access to it. There are also temporary virtual machines that you can use for unsafe stuff.

I created my emacs config by going through the awesome-emacs github page and adding any packages that looked useful. If you can't find your buffers, you should do m-x ibuffer and then hit s m to sort buffers by mode, and then you can see all the buffers that are open. Centaur tabs mode is also nice because it adds tabs.

Adding packages using use-package makes it easier to remember what stuff you added and makes your config more portable. I just got used to emacs by using it with the default keybinds and a minimal amount of packages to understand how it works.

Well yeah, but I'm using it in emacs org mode, which is nicer to write than straight up LaTeX. I used to use markdown on vim (which can embed LaTeX if you use pandoc to convert to pdf) but org mode is better.

God mode keybinds and yasnippets makes it comfortable to type.

If you have the time to learn emacs, its really good for note taking. I don't think any app other than Vim could compete in taking notes in my math class.

Yeah I know it was outdated, but people were saying it was gonna be 7 years till the next headset, and the Index is the best headset for getting into basestations these days still. Pimax has really bad headsets in most aspects besides fov, and HTC hasn't released a good headset in years.

According to rumors the deckard should be compatible with basestations, so I should be able to get the headset standalone.

In my opinion the Index resolution is as good as the quest 2 though so it wasn't that bad in comparison to other headsets when I got it.

It's pretty likely that its the Deckard, because we know they've been working on that for years, even before the Steam Deck was announced. I don't think that Valve has been working on any other hardware lately. It'll be pretty hype if it actually is, though I kinda bought my Index last year so I'm not hyped about it being obselete.

I use vterm in emacs if I'm doing something quick, but if I'm actually using the terminal for a task, I use blackbox because it integrates nicely with gnome. I just use vterm if I'm using exwm.

That sounds like a terrible idea if they find out.

No, for me its the opposite, when I buy a game I'm more likely to actually play it because I want to get my money's worth of enjoyment, while with a pirated game, there isn't a need to play the game, even if I do have fun with it.
