  • Because according to their perception "search" has less value than "watch", which may make sense if one seldom really uses a search engine (i.e., they just use the same 3-4 websites).

  • Sam . Mine is hosted on my RPi. Not ideal, I know, but at least it strips out tracking bits from the upstream engines.

  • I'm fairly positive that using WG Tunnel from f-droid as a client would allow you to set split tunnel, excluding AA from the VPN.

  • Not many people want to (or can) shell out 10 $/month for a search engine. I'm not saying it's pointless, I'm simply saying that few people would do it.

  • Indeed. But it seems one isn't allowed to criticize Mozilla here, so wait for downvotes or enraged replies.

  • I'm tired but for different reasons. If we start glorify assassination, then we are on a very slippery slope. Next thing would be to justify death sentence, for instance.

  • I guess so, but recent news aren't exactly inspiring. I'm really sorry for you (and I say that from an EU country with shitty politicians as well).

  • I'll actively try to avoid that. There's been a time in which I thought it could have been interesting to visit that country, but the time has passed.

  • I would, but unfortunately I don't use Gmail

  • I'm just tired of these shitty posts about... A perfectly fine browser! But no problem, I'll just keep blocking idiots who endlessly parrot bullshit while pretending that the fediverse is a paradise.

  • Thanks, but I'll keep using it.

I don't agree politically with the CEO nor I'm I fan of the crypto stuff, but I find it better than any other browser right now. And I don't want to support Mozilla in any way, so FF and its forks forks are a no-go.

  • Let me rephrase it, then: I prefer not to give market share or voice to Mozilla and their shitty community. I consider FF a mediocre browser anyway.

And I didn't insult you, so you can shove that "childish" elsewhere.

  • No problem, man. I'm just accostumed to check first on f-droid for my software. I don't have anything against proprietary soft, if it is useful for my purposes.

  • That will be the next quote on the widget.

  • Lemmy's one is called "Jerboa". I couldn't find Boost or Summit on f-droid, so I resorted on using "Thunder" (FOSS).

  • I'll link an unpopular opinion I posted yesterday: https://lemm.ee/post/59167603

My own comment has been: "Don't you dare to have opinions that don't align with mainstream thinking here".

Here either you praise Mozilla/Firefox/Gecko or you are insulted and treated like a pest. And that's a deterrent for me to even look at Mozilla/Firefox/Gecko. I prefer not to be part of that community.

  • Whatever. Chromium is not Chrome, at the moment, so the title is correct. What may happen in 2,5 or 10 years from now is largely irrelevant at this time.

Nobody is going to ditch their favourite browser (or any other tool) because of the rants of some random netizen/website.

  • Coo, I'll try it on Android. Right now I'm using Lemmy's own app. Thanks!
