  • Exactly, it's going to be Office 365+Windows in a single package kinda deal.

Probably with a mostly functioning Windows left if you stop paying, but no access to specific features or Office.

It's just a way to get people to pay a few bucks a month extra for the Office 365 package, which in the long term culminates to getting full bank plus then some for Windows, instead of a one time flat fee people will then use for as long as they keep the system.

Most people I know use the same system/laptop for 3-4 years, some even as long as 6-8 years if the thing doesn't break down.

The subscription will likely be setup so that you pay what you'd normally pay for a basic Windows Home (100-130ish) within the first 2 years (say $5 a month) and every year you use the same device longer than that, is just extra gravy for Microsoft.

But I doubt they'll drop the simple license. There are to many devices where a subscription wouldn't work and especially in this day and age, connecting the device to the Internet for any length of time is a big nono for the user/company.

  • Doesn't matter to Toyota one bit.

Their initial sale isn't to the middle east or in any way driven by the middle eastern market and tends to be completely done on the merit of the vehicle.

The trucks in the middle east are almost all second hand to the level some people were horrified and surprised when the vehicle they sold in the US, still bearing their logos and name, showed up in videos of insurgents and straight up terrorists in the Middle East.

  • Only having MAGA voters won't win them elections in swing states.

  • Even tactically it would be the smart move for the Republicans.

If nothing gets done, they can blame the Democratic speaker, if things get passed the wingnuts don't like, they can blame it on the Democratic speaker, meanwhile, the republicans from the slightly more swingy states get creds with more moderate voters, when they vote sensibly.

But nooo, Republicans can only stand either having it all or blocking it all.

  • If Hamas had missiles capable of that level of destruction, they'd have used them, last week.

  • Way back when I started out in IT, I had a job as Junior admin for the callcenter and two distribution centers of this multinational company.

The call center and distribution center were in Belgium, the second distribution center was right across the border from the call center, in Germany.

So, because I was stationed at the call center, the call center manager considered himself my boss and because I was stationed at the distribution center in Belgium, the distribution center manager in Belgium considered himself my boss and because I was stationed at the distribution center in Germany, the distribution center manager in Germany considered himself my boss.

    That makes 3.

But, since I was stationed at the call center and trained to program the call center phonesystem, the European manager for the phone systems considered himself my boss.

    That makes 4.

But since I was a Junior Admin, the Belgian AND German IT department managers considered themselves my boss.

    That makes 6.

But since I worked for both Belgian and German locations, the European IT department director considered themselves my boss.

    That makes 7.

But, because I was working there when HQ in the US was updating all IT infrastructure in Europe, the US IT manager and Internation IT directors considered themselves my boss.

    That makes 9.

I was fired for taking tasks by hierarchy and not jumping to do what the manager of the German distribution center told me to do.

And only reason this was possible is because, since I worked in both Belgian and German locations and had to travel to the UK and Spain for the network upgrades directed by the US IT department, I was actually internally in the company officially part of the consultants/sales department, because they were the only ones that had specific travel reimbursement structures, that would allow the company to reimburse me for my international travel.

    That makes 10.

And the manager of that department? The German distribution center managers wife.

I was so goddamn stressed working there I went from having a full head of hair to having a full bald head with some fluff on the sides.

That's also when I swore to never work as an employee for a multinational or US company ever again.

I have worked for many as a consultant, but always on my terms and stipulating in the contract there's one single person in that company that can assign tasks to me.

  • Translated: Bosses don't know how to pretend to add any actual value to the workflow of their employees when they aren't constantly looming over them.

  • When your objective is to sabotage government, it is.

  • That's the difference between someone like him and Biden.

Biden is old as fuck and has some old fuck ideas, but he also realizes he's an old fuck and his old as fuck ideas are outdated, so he relies on experts and not quite as old fucks to advise him.

Someone like Trump (and pretty much everyone on the right these days) will only take advise from anyone that simply re-enforces his own old fuck ideas.

  • This feels like the US deploying troops to work side by side with Israeli, to try and reign in the Israeli a bit.

Going in as a sort of peacekeeping force like NATO usually does would dare to suggest Israel it's in the wrong, so they opt to babysit the Israeli troops as they hopefully won't go to overboard when being watched by US troops.

  • That's what people don't get.

    Dogs love the vacuum cleaner.

They are just scared not knowing why it goes on long screaming fits whenever you're dragging it around the place.

  • Israel is going to slow down cooperating as long as they can, so there's as much death as possible, while still being able to say they allowed them to live.

  • WFH makes it so there isn't a buyer or very few interested.

So if you want to shift the property, you're going to have a bad time.

  • And isn't illegible to run for any office ever again.

  • You mean, correctly labeling him as an insurrectionist.

  • And that's because there are no consequences.

Giving jackass in finance a wink wink laden dressdown for their behavior, but then giving them a bonus every year and laughing about the whole thing during your next golf match, doesn't change their behavior.

Throwing their ass out on the street might.

EDIT: and then there's the issue of the bosses themselves being at fault and nothing will ever be done against them unless there are actual criminal charges upcoming, like with Ubisoft.

  • They did.

Some of them were wearing IDF uniforms :|

  • Yeah, that's it, I'm GenX, but I actually had a PC in the home as early as I can remember, got my own by age 8 and build my own age 10.

That's how some of these generational boundaries blur together, where the experience that defines one, can already have been part of the previous in specific circumstances.

And personally, I've VERY interested in seeing 10 years down the line when we have the first adults who grew up with on-demand streaming and tablets/phones.

When I was a child, they shoved a picture book in my hands to keep me entertained while sitting still.

Now, you give them a tablet and they can watch YouTube or cartoons, right in their hands.

Really wonder what difference this kind of thing will cause.
