You might like to check out the story of Jill Bolte Taylor. A brain scientist who lost contact with her left hemisphere due to a stroke. Then later when she had healed wrote a book about it all.
Interestingly a lot of what she (and you?) experienced is what you experience during Awakening/Realization.
I know it's just a comic but I still disagree with it's message. Phones are essentially mini-computers connected to the Internet which has the potential for endless dopamine-inducing entertainment and we carry them around with us 24/7.
A very powerful dopamine-pump, with us around the clock, every day.
This has actually never happened before in history.
The difference is time.
With time a federated Threads will build it's own massive library of content, suck in it's own users and then slowly make all of that proprietary and locked down from the rest of the fediverse.
It's a long con that's been done several times by big corporations.
De federate now and that content and those users will have to choose now. Meta or fediverse.
The scales are still uneven, but less uneven than in that future.
