  • I think it would be hard to answer that because most everything, if not all, have some drawbacks. Also, the reason can be subjective. I hate it because I hate it.

  • Yeah, works for Lemmy, but not sure if it works with Mastodon, etc....

  • Oh, yeah, it's engaging stuffs. I've gone through:

    • Oh, no, this instance defederates for safety but it stops working for days
    • Oh, look, that instance is close to me and I can go faster
    • Oh, crap, this instance doesn't allow downvote
    • Oh, shoot, this instance doesn't work real well with this community
    • Oh, look, that instance is using cloudflare
    • Oh, no, this instance has trouble with this browser's extension

The good thing about all these is, one instance going down is not a problem anymore!

  • Signs of scam:

    1. Being sent on the weekend when the office was closed
    2. Not sent to people that it should be sent
    3. Language is off

User's email account or the business email server may be hacked, so sending an email from a legitimate account doesn't guarantee legitimacy. I would lean toward being suspicious that the person was trying to get basic personal info (address is probably not a big deal) and if your responded, a more financial-related/personal information from you.

So, following up, was this a phishing email?

  • That's a shit post, man.

  • Totally, they were trying to entertain him!

  • I have known some people who worked as a teacher. During the summer, they would take off traveling and not come back until the school was nearly open.

I guess it depends on how much money you need to live day to day too.

  • I was just waiting for her to pump her legs.

  • Just remember that the posts and comments on Lemmy are pretty much public. The government might not need to subpoena any information except maybe

    1. IP address, which your instance's admins (and possibly the community mods) have access to
    2. DMs, which your instance's admins and possibly the other party instance's have access to

You should let the people in your campaign know as well if you use Lemmy for communications.
