Hate to say, as someone who also hates this very specific thibg, like 25% of them are the same way. I call it the "journalist cadence" because news people do the same thing.
If you own a pet, you have committed to every part of their care. It is a chore and it is unpleasant, but that's what you signed up for when you brought a pet into your home so you better get used to it.

This is a good answer imo, but that last point is truly the long-term key. Regarding other discussion in this thread, late-stage capitalism largely prevents housing and utilities from being separated from profits. Not to take personal responsibility out of the equation, but social mobility is quite low when the system is rigged for continual profits and ever-increasing ROIs.
You also have to consider infrastructure. What good would 1000 homeless shelters be if you only had the staff or resources to run 100? For the record I am very pro-public housing, but it's a pretty complex situation.
I agree- hopefully we can remember long enough for it to really matter in the long term. Just wanted to bring attention to this cycle because it's been happening a lot lately (Facebook, DnD, etc) and I think the companies are starting to copy eachother.
