So, you got me thinking why .ml at all? So I googled it lol. Lead me to a thread on Reddit (lol) explaining the differences between an ML and a tankie. Tl:dr Marxist-Leninists aren’t completely down with kissing the boot of big government but really resonate well with socialism.

I’m sure I explained that terribly but I guess I’m happy to know the difference.

Edit: nevermind. Rule 3 of sopuli.xyz tells me it’s more of the same. I’m sorry but if you need to make an entire rule mentioning Nazis and Qanon then it’s probably because you spend a lot of time calling people those things because it gives you an endorphin rush.

Someone mentioned lemmygrad.ml earlier but I can’t say I’ve actually noticed it (browsing all on sh.itjust.works, if that matters).

Too often it happens that the first thing on my feed is some edgie endorsement for communism and it’s always lemmy.ml behind it.

I mean, good point actually. It’s very possible the issue is the instance I’m logged into. I switched around the time lemmy.world was hacked. But .world honestly felt the same as sh.itjust.works. Never fails that I login and the very first thing I see is some communist circlejerk with tons of upvotes.

Lemmy is like a boiling pot of full-on tankie authoritarians. Reddit is only slightly less left than that but you still get autobanned from major subs for simply commenting somewhere deemed right-wing.

This just happened to me. Even tried to use Albert Einstein as a “see, Socialism can work” even though the topic was about tankies specifically. It felt like gaslighting so I stopped engaging.

They try to have normal communities to lure people in then bam, tankies everywhere and if you disagree you’re a racist bigot when all you were there for initially was innocent, apolitical memes.

He’s absolutely no Carl Sagan. Now, those are some big shoes to fill for anyone but Neil didn’t even come close. I really like his voice but there’s always an air of condescension about his demeanor. It was admittedly less present in Cosmos, thankfully.

His Hollyweird presence is what really irks me, appearing in shows like Big Bang Theory. He somehow manages to be bad at acting like himself. It would be almost impressive if he didn’t come off as so damn conceited.
