  • I had a bit of a brain fart and hit wrong button posting before I had fully written. That's on me not on you.

And yes protesting isn't going to change policy directly. Only new policy will change policy. But protests often leads to new policy.

They're going to look for every reason to discount and disregard protests however. Specifically highlighting any small instances of violence. And specifically because it can change policy eventually.

  • Do you have any evidence of this? If so you should write your own article. Literally an someone that thought the same as you looked into things and found otherwise. The article was just posted for it. look forward to seeing your research and reasoning on the subject.

  • This is what needs to be happening everywhere. Definitely something that should be applauded. Is anyone taking up a collection to help fund and cover these people who are taking actual risks right now?

  • Is that why they all imagine external threats to justify their militaries at the cost of the people? Much secure, very safe. Lol you've said nothing to disprove my point.

  • Sometimes violence can be necessary to start. But anything won or held by violence will also be lost by violence. Only that which is held through peace and understanding will ever be secure.

  • That and it speaks to a lack of maturity and professionalism which doesn't inspire confidence in the project.

There's no need to hurt the devs for sure though. They do that well enough on their own.

  • The problems with the Lemmy developers though is plain on the face of it. Problematic political and social positions. And then demanding that donations must go towards furthering those problematic political and social positions. Because they think they found this one weird trick that nobody can argue with. Their Flagship server is the political server. It's not lemmy.org after all.

Not to mention that the admins of the server moderate more than most the moderators on the server. There is no free speech. It doesn't matter how moderate or respectful you are. If you go against the narrative you will be banned.

Development wise they are also vanguard minded. Does the userbase want features the devs aren't working on? That's too bad. The devs are going to work on what they want to work on. Whether or not that's a good thing. Which can sometimes it can be. It also has led to a number of people reluctant to contribute. The childish cliquesh behavior.

You're not always going to agree with the politics and views of the people who write the software you use. And that is okay. But when they mix the two it's not wrong to have issues with that.

  • Which ironically would be easy to defeat if they weren't dead weight.

  • Laws only apply when enforced. Who's going to enforce it?

  • Yes this is a crisis of the DNCs own making. If there was good leadership. Then what Hoagg is doing would not be a threat to it.

  • I've already created an account on a piefed instance. Planning for the future. I'm sure Voyager will get it sorted.

  • Just watched Perry's video. Best of luck to him. Honestly I'd love to see the brand revived. The X 16 the first new product. Revivals of the old. Maybe some new products based on riscv.

  • It's in the readme. Several comments above this and around this all mention it. You can search for it and you will find it.

Dei really shouldn't be considered politics of course. It should just be a part of being a decent person. But those who persecute others or don't care about the persecution of others at least. Always have to put on a show to make everything about them. How acknowledging traditionally excluded people is somehow an attack or imposition on them

  • I've disabled it before. But it was enabled again. Aggravating that it's opt out in the first place. Especially so whatever re - enabled it. Oh well.

  • Being left or right doesn't make you good or bad. There are plenty of reasonable right-wing groups. However few to none of them identify as right wing. The Democrats in the United States for instance. A staunchly, solidly right-wing group. That most people somehow mistakenly think are left wing.

No, the people desperate to identify themselves with vagaries such as left or right. Almost without exception are some of the worst most horrible people you'll ever meet. Only trying to deny the failures of their ideas, or deflect from the horrible things they want to do to others. Leninists and fascists are both Prime examples of this.

Anyone who talks or acts like DEI is a problem is a clown who deserves to be ridiculed. Its possible to have substantive nuanced criticism of DEI. Left or right. But DEI isn't the problem. The people whining about it typically are.

  • 100%. Not just controversial but childish. It's completely poetic karma that they've become a minority in their own network. Repeating the same patterns that got them exiled elsewhere. Basically doing it all again. Having learned nothing.

  • They wouldn't get harassed if they minded their own business and stopped harassing others.

  • LOL, you quite literally have no clue. Don't get me wrong I understand. There's a lot of blind criticism without nuance that gets passed around on lemmy.

Despite being an anarchist, and not having anyone to endorse in the National election. I got endless hate for pointing out that Gaza wasn't on the ballot. That it was either going to be a Democrat or a Republican and we would pray that it wasn't a republican. That we should do whatever it takes to ensure the Republicans didn't win. I e voting for the next most likely to win candidate aka the Democrats. That the constant sniping at Biden / Harris over Gaza was only helping the Republican.

I voted for Harris. Because despite disagreeing with the Democrats vehemently on many fronts. Staving off open fascism and all the people now being hurt by it was important. I'm a pragmatist before an idealogue. My criticism of Democrats isn't coming from irreconcilable ideological grounds. Despite disagreeing with them I have no issue working with them when interests align. But let's be real. As a party they've made decades worth of unforced errors. And they still are. They need to be better. They need to push back. Even just making gestures for show. Which they really aren't. Mid terms are coming. They need to show people why to vote for them.

  • By what nonexistent levers of power do you expect them to hold the total-majority government to account?

None, just at least give the posture and appearance of trying. It's a low bar they're failing. You know, not voting for grossly disqualified candidates in the name of bipartisanship. As Booker has.

No one is asking them to be community organizers. Just not to be enablers of fascists. Showing strong signs that they stand against them and with the people.
