  • Well as another Mangione once said feels so good. And I think they are afraid we wouldn't be able to stop until all of them had answered.

  • It takes a special type of person to be a Foss developer. There isn't a lot of pay and unfortunately a lot of people seem to feel entitled to your work. It's a hard thing to manage. I know the head of the project left because of that feeling. Not sure what this new departure is about exactly. Though it could be related to him just as much as anything else.

  • While that is true. Two things can be true at once. While their oligarch's have been exploiting workers. They have been heavily investing and actually building up on science. While our oligarchs have simply just been exploiting workers and divesting from all science. Under this current Administration whatever claim we had to being a world scientific leader is effectively gone. And we are now on the other end of the club that many Administrations in the US government used for Generations against other countries.

  • I hate to be correct. But it was always a foregone conclusion the red caps would come for then.

  • Yep. Fuck this fucking fucker.

Though I think it is important to add that he has also illegally broken into many different government organizations without access or permission. Causing them to be unable to do their job serving the American public. He's hurt thousands if not millions of people already.

  • As an anarchist I would love direct democracy immeasurably more than what we currently have. You aren't wrong. It is a republic, a Democratic Republic; that uses representative democracy. But that doesn't argue against it being a democracy. Just not a direct democracy. Which by the fact that we have an actual name for it. Means that there are other types of democracies that aren't direct democracies. Such as Democratic Republics.

Like I've said elsewhere I'm not defending our current system it fucking sucks. But the problem with it is more that there aren't safeguards to keep the wealthy from capturing it. And that the wealthy have captured it. It can function marginally okay without them in control. But I don't know that that's ever really happened in our country's history. I'm absolutely for replacing it with something more democratic.

  • A flawed democracy. Literally still a democracy. I'm not defending it. I think it's shit. But I also think people claiming that it isn't a democracy is disingenuous, hyperbolic, and a bit shit too.

  • That's literally because of capture by the wealthy and powerful. Not the system itself. Yes the system doesn't have proper safeguards against it. But you're not criticizing the system you're criticizing people who control it currently.

  • I don't think much of it. But it is still a democracy. One of the most flawed there is. But still technically a democracy.

  • I've used both. Endeavor have a nice arm distro on my desktops I'm using the vanilla Garuda isos. It doesn't install everything for you out of the box. But assuming you aren't afraid of yay or pacman that isn't a problem. Both are very close to arch. But offering a bit more modern install experience. I've done lfs/Gentoo/vanilla arch. And they were fine learning experiences. But if you want a simple to install, lean weeding Edge system. Where you don't have to hope that your software is released as a flat pack in order for you to easily this version. Either one is pretty decent.

  • A Chromecast TV device might fill your gap. There is a jellyfin android TV build in the app store and it works with every TV. Just costs about 50 dollarydoos

  • Both can and are being done. Though it definitely requires more knowledge on an uplink node. The mesh is local. But there's nothing saying you can't connect to larger networks and even other local mesh via them. I had access to the Internet long before I ever had Internet access. It was very delayed and slow. Since it would often have to make several fidonet hops. But it worked.

  • Autonomous mobile fash cameras. What's the worst thing that happened LOL.

  • All the more reason to look at local mesh networking. Yeah you aren't going to be streaming Netflix. But you will be able to access the services you need that require it.

  • For generations many relied on the nightly news to keep them informed. It was always a bad idea. Though the local media wasn't as bad as it is today. Today for many of these people, propaganda outlets like Sinclair own their local media. And demand fawning of trump/demonizing Democrats. Even if they avoid all media. Their beliefs are formed from those around them that don't.

  • Just like the other times he said he would do it. Only releasing the same information everyone has already released. No One Believes him anymore

  • Anal paper cuts are pretty brutal I'd imagine.

  • By modern standards, absolutely not. By the standards of the time, they were pretty radical. Part of why France was a major ally during the revolutionary war.

Unlike all the modern gooch sniffers who treat the founding fathers as infallible and the last word on everything. Including modern issues they could have never imagined. The founding fathers knew their constitution and laws were never perfect. And would likely need updating every 20 to 50 years. They didn't fail us. We failed them in many ways however. We allowed those who amassed power to only amass more power. And put up roadblocks to any meaningful change in most instances. Which is why it was so hard to get things like civil rights or women's suffrage. Nearly impossible to get anything at all today. Because it does not serve the entrenched wealthy and Powerful. And your average man is so uninformed that you really don't know what's going on or who the actual enemy is.
