  • This is above my pay grade, but I think it is ultimately up to SCOTUS to decide, in the sense that the constitution can disqualify you from something even if you weren't charged with the relevant laws. In other words, even if insurrection wasn't a crime, and even if trump was not charged with any crime, I think SCOTUS still get to decide what is an insurrection and what isn't. I am just speculating I am not a lawyer.

  • If convincted he's ineligible under the 14th amendment, which is technically binding without further actions. Of course he will still be allowed to run and it will be up to SCOTUs Imo they are not as sympathetic toward trump as most people here would believe.

  • The list goes on and on and on. Don't forget all the creepy stuff like openly fantasizing atnout his daughter, or the fact that he is a convicted rapist, admitted to sexual assault and etc. A draft dodger making fun of vets, grown man wearing makeup and diapers making fun of other people physical issues. What a waste of carbon.

  • The whole point of social democracy is to borrow concepts and values from socialism, I never said it is socialism. I am not even sure what you're arguing about and why you're so obstinate on such a pedantic point.

First off, good luck finding a definition of social democracy out there that can skim over the parallels with socialism. At this point I tried in good faith, but obviously you have a problem with the actual definition of social democracy, this is not something I made up, this described as such everywhere.

You're free to use whatever made-up definition of your own, as I am sure someone as obstinate and strongly opinionated as you are won't be moving an inch, as it would seem there is no chance you will actually research what is social democracy. Sure it is a nationalism movement or whatever you say. This could have been an interesting conversation, but yeah I suppose you're here to bludgeon your strong opinions on people and to be insufferable about it. Have a good day.

  • That would explain why ChatGPT started regurgitating cookie-cutter garbage responses more often than usual a few months after launch. It really started feeling more like a chatbot lately, it almost felt talking to a human 6 months ago.

  • It's funny because the first group to denounce Trump as a maniac, and to basically accurately describe how fucked up he is was the GOP in 2016. They warned back then what would happen if Trump won, then he won and suddenly he was the best thing ever, and everyone disagreeing has been had by the deep state or something.

  • Part of it yes, it is a mixed economy. State-owned corporations whenever it makes sense, welfare state, income redistribution, regulation of the economy, all in all within capitalism. Again, Social Democracy is just a subset of socialism applied to capitalism. Full-blown ownership of the means of production by the workers, without a private sector, that'd be just plain socialism or communism.

  • I am not sure what to tell you, I live in one of the few social democracy in America. Maybe have a look at the Wiki? It is a socialist model by definition, and the state does indeed own infrastructure around here. Care to link to your definition of social democracy?

  • Should have let him "win"? First off his plan was thwarted by his own party, his own staff, and his own appointed judges. Virtually all his political opponents did is critism him from a distance.

But let's pretend that everyone should have helped steal the election, or voted for him out of fear (yikes), you really think this guy was ever gonna leave the white house, even after a 2nd term?

He's been hinting at being president for life a few times, and he was slowly replacing all the top positions in the country by loyalist. Meanwhile, his supporters were absolutely thrilled at the idea that Ivanka should be his successors, and that we should live under the Trump dynasty. After a 2nd term he would have pulled some shit, created a crisis out of his own to justify extending his presidential powers, and if he succeeded, that would have been it. He telegraphied his every move and a lot of peolle in 2016 already knew he would not leave willingly and call the next election rigged. He telegraphied wanting to be president for life, and you can be absolutely sure that he would not have stopped at a 2nd term.

  • Yep, it is always those with just enough knowledge to be dangerous. Some guy who watched a youtube video, took a 101 class, or just started in the field. It is crazy really, and of course it is very hard to convince those people of anything because sometime the wiser, non-newbie opinion will seem overkill to them since they believe the issue to be very simple and clear-cut.

  • It is very hard to have rational disccussion when people disagree on the basic observable facts, ignore the "rules" of debate, and are struggling with critical thinking. You can meet difficult people on all the political spectrum, but certain idealogy attract more difficult people, and certain stuff mainstream conservatives believe right now has absolutely no basis in reality.

  • Lots are, but I think cats are very misunderstood animals. Both by owners and haters.

They're very simple creatures, they're not cunning, they don't think they own you or judge you, and they're not assholes on purpose, they're just really simple-minded. Also they don't "ignore" people or their owner on purpose, it's just that the abstract concept of a "command" or an "order" fly over their head completely. That being said, cats are social as hell, and if you're ok with having basically a big dumb cuddly creature dumber than a rat roam your house in exchange for love, cats are okay.

  • I think it works for some couples, but it should definitely be a more socially acceptable preference. Problem is, even people who agree on open relationship often end up being jealous and bitter about it. Jealousy is really hard to get out of the picture no matter what, is it such a strong human emotion.

  • It definitely changed my perspective on society. It seems obvious to me now that not everyone should be doing the "thinking" even in a free society, and certain social media help aggregate the dullest individuals together. That is of course on top of the other problems, like obsessing with appearences and web addiction.

  • I have a feeling this is the case for any technical subject that happens to be diiscussed on social media. Mostly everything I read about my own domain of expertise is often flat out wrong, but repeated with such confidence and appeal to authority that it makes you wonder what else here is wrong.
