... there's nothing wrong with doing wasteful things.
Agreed.
But I prefer to live a productive life instead of a wasteful one.
Especially when wasting your life involves picking on a currently oppressed group instead of their oppressors. If your anger stems from liberals lack of empathy, you are certainly lacking it towards them now that they're oppressed.
So if you want to waste your life being an angry hypocrite in this way, I will not stop you, but I will point it out.
And let me know where in the world you're living if you feel you are currently safe from the Russia fueled right-wing populist hate machine. I'd gladly move there to escape the grip they are tightening on the world.
Especially considering how effectively they dismantled the US, have now weaponized their military (the largest in the world by several factors), and have publicly stated their interest to take over Canada, Greenland, and Panama.
If there's a safe place on this planet that escapes their grasp, let me know, especially since you already feel:
...that united front will never happen.
Seeing as a united front is the only way this ends well for humanity instead of Oligarchs, I guess we'll have to wait 4 years to find out if you're just being wasteful, or dangerously naive.
This is the reaction of people who are only marginally opposed to mass murder.
Understood.
My point: the world is slowly becoming overrun by people that are not opposed to mass murder at all.
So why should we spend any effort towards measuring what level we're each opposed to mass murder, instead of actually opposing it while it's happening?
It's wasteful at best, and creates fractures in a needed united front against mass murdering corporate narcissists at worst.
Albeit a valid criticism of libs, it's not productive towards solving any growing problem in any way. It is punching down on a group that Trump already has his boot on. Yet you're enjoying the boot, and feel it's earned, instead of aligning with the people it's on who you clearly agree more with.
At the rate the US is going, there won't be many libs left to laugh at once that boot is finished with them.
So I'll save my criticism of their behavior after I know for sure they'll still be around to criticize. Until then, anyone under that boot is my ally despite any political differences.
Does anyone find it disgusting that conservatives now AREN'T mad that Obama was incompetently committing mass murder in the Middle East? (Because Trump is now doing the same?)
Personally, and morally, our anger should be towards the people NOT upset at Mass Murder, which as you have explained, isn't liberals.
To be clear, yes, liberals turned a blind eye to this during Obama. But to your point, they aren't now. Trump, instead, is murdering without care, and his base is celebrating it.
A blind eye isn't the same as active support, and MAGA is actively supporting murder. While at worst, liberals still have blinders on.
Personally, I'm not going to spend any time chastising a lesser evil. But many did during our previous elections, which is how Trump got elected both times.
Harris + Isreal being a great recent example. Because no matter how bad Harris was, it's not Trump turning Gaza into a night club.
What disgusting hate should we throw her way about Gaza now that it's targeted for demolision by Trump?
At best, it's wasteful to be so angry at liberals now. At worst, it's stupid, and will keep the people you should be angry at in power to do worse things more frequently as it has for both of Trumps elections.
You know those scam phone calls from India pretending to be Microsoft? They overwhelmly target the elderly, because their success rate with them is so high. The elderly are without question more gullible when it comes to being taken advantage of over the internet and social media.
The elderly control every branch of our government. Their gulliblity is now something that lets all of us get taken advantage of - not just themselves. They are collectively buying MAGA Hats for the country because some guys on the internet told them it would make America Great. It's clearly not, hasn't, and is a scam, but now our entire country has to pay for it.
Even the best, most well trained guards cannot provide protection if they are too old to lift a shield. Our entire government hasn't been able to lift that shield in decades.
Which explains why 9-11 was "Never Forget," but Columbine is "Always Forget" for every school shooting that's happened since '99.
I was a Sophomore in highschool when Colombine happened, and now my kids get to see others their age die yearly in school shootings while President crime grandpa tells us it's because of trans kids.
It's not boomers as a generation that's the problem, it's that generation is just now old to provide security. At worst, they are too proud to admit their age causes issues in their ability to lead and protect this country. But it unquestionably does.
💯 This
I agree with others below that the GOP is at the limit of what they can get their followers to believe in once they can't eat. Most are already suffering, and expect a quick turn around. Instead, we're about to get Great Depression 2: Trumps BS Boogaloo. The violence that follows will overwhelmingly be directed at those that control every branch of the government with an iron grip and failed to make anything better despite it. Historically, this has always been the course of events.
If your decision is between voting for someone that associates with the worst, most ineffective, and cruel politicians in our modern era, or someone else, you vote for someone else.
Evil people lie, and most of them have the money to get social media influences to lie with them, so you won't know their angle until it's too late to stop them. Like project 2025.
Also, no offense, but why would you even possibly entertain voting for someone who is clearly backed by a lunatic that wants to literally invade and annex your country?
Not believing this is a viable threat to your sovereignty is the most dangerously naive you could be.
One of your choices will unquestionably make it easier for Canada to become a US state. Don't pick that candidate unless you're prepared for that result.
They do. Because they already got away with making the US fail to realize a whole bunch. About project 2025. About Trump. School shootings. Class solidarity. Etc. The US is pliable because 50% of the country just needs someone on Fox to tell them how okay it is for them to get fucked, and they'll just let it happen.
Problem is, there are clear limits on how far this can be pushed. And these idiots are just about to discover what those limits are. But they are without question idiots, and certainly stupid enough to not see how this is going to effect them.
As an American, don't be naive. Trump said he had nothing to do with project 2025, and now it's 40% complete in just 3 months in office. Everyone on the right side of politics isn't to be trusted in this era. They are all absolutely full of shit, and will unquestionably align with Trumps insanity. Name a single one that hasn't.
By all means, explain to me how Americans are supposed to fight against decades of wrong-think being bought and paid for by the richest people alive.
America is in the situation we're in because money is power and those with the most of it decided to slowly take over this country. If 90% of the people here could unify, they still wouldn't have the resources of the 30 billionaires controlling their tech and media narrative.
You better have a good answer of what to do when this happens again because based on the world wide rise of this kind of disinformation, it's only a matter of time before it happens to your country too. Assuming your safe is the only short sighted thing America did in this situation.
So I wouldn't be delighting in the strength these enemies showed in defeating the US, because it's just a matter of time before they come for you next. And if the US didn't stop them, you better be learning how.
Because this evil isn't localized to the US.
27F, what to do with my life?
Can confirm. Boring is the way. Accounting, economics, etc.
For me, I worked my ass off to be a person that works on movies and TV etc. Got lucky, held some dream positions, and even got to make my own thing.
However, if I could do it all again, I'd stay in the boring office job I had and share twice as much time with my family and friends.
Instead, I worked 80 hour weeks, made some decent money in respected roles, and then Covid took everyone and everything close to me. Money and respect mean nothing if you can't share it with those you love.
Boring is the way. Don't worry about liking your job in 10-20 years, worry about liking your life.
27F, what to do with my life?
Tesla spent two decades building it's brand only to lose world wide appeal in a matter of weeks.
There is a very clear trend in what Elon touches turning to shit.
X is clearly not recovering to its previous highs.
And Tesla is likely now fucked too.
Simply because neither of these companies have a path forward to reaching the value they had without a worldwide consumer base. Supply and demand determine value and both of these companies shifted their demand base from billions of people world wide to millions of people brainwashed in the US.
The active consumer base for both products is now American, and only so much value can be extracted from Americans compared to the entire world.
Add in a pending US economic crisis to that smaller user base of both companies, and there's absolutley no hope either survive or recover to the value they previously had.
Invest in either if you want to lose money in the long run. Otherwise short both.
Very well said, especially the snake oil comparison.
You're half right.
We absolutley and without question have the money, resources, and infrastructure to supply the world with what it needs.
However, 90% of those resources are owned by individuals, not countries.
In order to accumulate this wealth, they have exploited millions, usually through government bribes, or capturing entire political parties outright.
Now that sharing their hoarded wealth is essential for human survival, they are choosing to disrupt any conversation about it. Socialism and the "left" way of thinking - to provide resources where they are best needed - is dangerous to their wealth, so they've spent millions on preserving it at the cost of preserving humanity.
That's what you're seeing across the globe. Selfish narcissists that care more about themselves than humanity.
There's a truly great indie beat-em-up RPG with Brian David Gilbert that just released called: INK INSIDE and it's on sale for $15.
Here's some advice from someone with a high nat charisma role on birth:
Gaining friends, lovers, or even acquaintances isn't a goal to be worked towards - rather - the best kinds of these relationships are byproducts of mutual interest and experiences.
If your efforts are only going towards showing up at social events to participate in small talk, then no wonder it feels like you're coming home from work. Because that's the same behavior expected at work.
This "social script" we're expected to follow at work is to maintain social standing to get work done, rather than grow and deepen connections.
Basically, work socialization and personal socialization should be approached differently, and taking the work approach to your private life will likely lead to the same kind of relationships you're building at work: simple and makes your work easier. (Rather than relationships that are deep, and make your life more colorful.)
Here's something to try the next time you find a group you want to be a part of:
- 1st: Don't talk about work itself. Talk about the actions you take at work. Don't say, "I work in sales" say "I sell shit to those that don't need it."
Talk about the specific actions you take, in work or anywhere else, and personalize them.
The fundamentals of any relationship are built on the aligned behaviors of individuals. The easiest way to determine if the way you behave is similar to others is to talk about how you act. And if you can add in your own opinion about those actions, even better. These small things communicate who you are much better than anything else. Actions speak louder than words, so try your best to speak about yourself as the actions you take - use verbs to describe yourself, not nouns.
- 2nd: Don't talk about yourself unless asked. Instead, engage with others to learn about them. Specially, what actions they like.
If you know someone is interested in something like bikes. Don't ask what bikes they like, ask if they "like the thrill of downhill mountain biking," or "prefer a chill bike ride through the park."
Do they watch movies? Don't ask "did you like that Movie?" Rather, ask "did you like pacing of that Movie?"
Verbs should also be at the heart of your inquiries into others, as they describe the actions others have that might align with yours.
That is - good relationships are built on mutual action, not mutual interest.
So don't ask, "How was work?" ask "What projects are you working on?" Then follow that inquiry up with more specifics on their behaviour through that project - "How hard was the project to complete? Who got in your way?"
Basically, socialize as if the people you want to hang around are all the main characters within their own show. They have adventures, villians, love interests, etc - and just spending time learning what those are, will make them feel closer to you. Once you know enough about them, you can begin asking them about the events in their own show. That is, in time, your small talk will grow from, "how was work?" to "did you get your evil manager fired over their bullshit harrasment?"
And that's the difference between a friend, and someone you know at work.
Eventually, when you learn about these people more, you'll discover the behaviour they have that aligns with yours. And eventually, you'll begin doing stuff together with them.
They like casual bike rides? Cool, give it a shot with them! They like seeing matinees on Sunday? Cool join em!
The more you show an interest in how people behave, the more likely it is they will want to include you as part of that behaviour.
- 3rd. Encourage others. Be their hype man.
You know how they act? Great. Encourage it. Sometimes, even encourage it with you included.
They love bike riding? Great. Tell them about the park near your house they should try. Heck. You can even join em.
People often have goals tied to their favorite behaviours. If you know what those goals are, you can encourage them to pursue them. When they succeed, you will now be a part of it they'll remember.
In time, you keep up the above, you'll be surrounded by people you know well, and whom you've shared a lot of activities with.
And they will without question enjoy you in their lives for it.
At the heart of Fascism is ignorance. Ignorance can be readily defeated, we just haven't figured out the best way to do so in the information age with social media creating BS faster than facts. Time keeps going, and beyond the coming tide of Fascism, is something else. As long as we can stay informed, and educated, Fascism can be overcome. It's never taken hold permanantly because it's built on unstable bullshit and populism. It will come, it will pass, and when it does, whoever left will want to move avawy from the ignorance that caused this rise of Fascism in the first place.
AI to run companies in sustainably profitable ways that benefits their workers instead of rich greedy sociopaths.
You literally admitteded to wanting to be wasteful. So it's not dramatic to point out that over time, if all you do is wasteful things with your life, then it's been a wasteful one. That's how life works.
It's not your criticism that lacks empathy, it's your choice in who to criticise.
You're taking the time to make your opinion public, and that time could be spent doing or saying anything else.
What you choose to say and do, is at the cost of what you could also be doing or saying with your time.
For example:
Libs choose not to say anything about drone strikes when it's inconvenient.
Their choice to turn a blind eye, is why you feel they lack empathy.
The Right is attacking Democracy worldwide and has succeeded in taking over the US where they have recently enacted policies killing woman (abortion bans), incited LQBTQIA violence and murder, and readily exploit the elderly (antivax BS, removal of social security).
Recent estimates put preventable abortion deaths at 10,000 women a month in Texas alone, not to mention the GOP's support of actual genocide in Isreal.
All of this, you have choosen to say nothing about. So just like the libs, it appears you're turning a blind eye to it.
Because If you actually cared about those commiting mass murder, it stands to reason you would choose to express an opinion against the group doing it the most worldwide, instead of the group who has no power to do it any longer.
In choosing to be critical of libs for actions that others are doing worse on a far larger scale is what makes your opinion lack empathy. Because it quite literally could have more empathy if it was directed towards the larger group now doing all the mass murdering.
Libs don't want to talk about drone strikes killing people (just the "terrorists" that do), and you don't want to talk about the right killing people (just the "libs" that do).
From where I'm at, you both appear to be the same kind of hypocrite.
Both are already under Russia's heel. Japan only recently.
Egypt gets 80% of their grain from Russia in exchange for guns. Russia has them by the balls and doesn't need propaganda to influence their politics:
https://www.eureporter.co/world/egypt/2024/02/15/a-new-dawn-for-russia-and-egypt-and-a-wake-up-call-for-the-west/
And Japan is one of the 11 Democracies found to be under attack through targeted election interference in this report:
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-intelligence-report-alleging-russia-election-interference-shared-with-100-2023-10-20/
So the mass murder people already have control of the Egyptian government, and are working on Japan.
And its working because:
This includes voting for people that don't care about mass murder as long as they follow through on their other promises.
So all together, talking about how much you hate the Right and what they're doing feels like an opinion you should have and be sharing if you truly cared about those who commit mass murder.
Libs are not in power in the US and very likely won't have it in the same way ever again.
Do they suck? Yes.
But there's bigger mass murders now that arguably warrant the same view you have of libs.
So why are you choosing to talk about the libs instead?
From my perspective, it looks like you just want to waste your time being angry at a lesser evil. Which if done over the course of your whole life, will unquestionably waste it.
