If you want a show to be more like the game, play the game. If you want it to be more like the book, read the book. Let the show be a show and try to appreciate it as a show.

It’s kind of dumb that Biden gets to be a great president just for erasing some of the mess Trump made. I miss the days when we were actually talking about things like better healthcare, meaningful gun legislation, and education, not back to basic human fucking rights.

OoT for me. ALttP and Link’s Awakening were already my favorite games at the time, but OoT came out at that perfect time in my life when consoles were being made for kids my age and 3D was this mysterious, exciting new thing. To this day, I usually end up replaying it about once a year, and I suspect I’ll continue doing that until I pass on.

Facebook is the only reason I don’t already have one or two of these headsets right now.

It’s just a wish. It’s a funny term and I like it, but not worth the effort of making a new account and subbing to all the same groups again. I’ve done it thrice already and it’s a pain in the ass. Maybe I’ll use it next time I sign up for something though.

I think the narrow minded perspective is coming from this comment. Yes. Of course layoffs are inevitable in business. That’s not what the discussion is about. Take a look at how short-sighted these companies behaved during the lock-down. People are stuck at home, and they’re buying more games? OMG let’s just pretend this is a trend that will never end and start expanding as much as possible! Nope. Anyone with two brain cells could tell you that was going to drop as soon as the lockdowns lifted and people could go outside again.

Avoidable? Abso-fucking-lutely.

However, I agree with you that it’s not at all a fuck up. I believe it is flat out malicious. Publishers have more than two brain cells, and they knew this was going to happen, so they took advantage of an obvious opportunity to get rid of costly, experienced employees in favor of cheap, new blood. Smart, and evil.

I’d say if you’re going to keep it as a primary windows PC docked at home, but with the added gimmick of it being a handheld, ally isn’t that bad of an option. I just think Deck is way more interesting as a grownup toy and much more bang for its buck.

Yeah modding isn’t that much more difficult, but sometimes you have to drop a file in a specific folder that can be tricky to find since the directed paths aren’t always 1:1 with windows due to the wine bottling thing. It helps you can right click on a game in Steam desktop for a shortcut to a game’s specific folder, though. That and the community is usually willing to help you figure stuff out.

Ally has better specs, support for games which are easier to mod (because windows). It has no touch pads, worse battery life, and windows isn’t great for handheld. Might be good for an alternative windows “laptop” you can also game well with.

Deck has a really good community, is repairable, has touch pads, Steam OS desktop is built for mobile and insanely customizable thanks to Linux (I made mine behave Mac-like). Better battery. Not all games are guaranteed supported (many publishers ignore Linux, so the community or Steam itself usually puts the work in), some require tinkering, and publishers can bust games unexpectedly with anti-cheat efforts. That said, none of the games I’ve ever cared about have been affected. Desktop mode can be used for productivity, but you won’t be able to get away with as much as you would with a more mainstream Linux distribution because Steam OS is read-only and an update might remove some advanced functionality you might have installed. I’m not a Linux user, so I can’t really elaborate on that. Also Arch Linux (which Steam OS is built from) is like the Dark Souls of Linux distros, and not very good for newcomers.

Between the two: if you like windows, modding games, and don’t mind being tethered to a wall in exchange for a little more oomph, go Ally. If you like community support, good controls and battery efficiency is more important than raw performance, go Deck.

I presume ally is better for someone who can’t stand much outside of windows and doesn’t mind using it at home most of the time.

I started Trails in the Sky like 2 years ago and have been slowly burning my way through the entire series since. Now I’m on the 8th game, Cold Steel 3, with Cold Steel 4 already installed. I’ll buy Reverie then Daybreak when the time comes.

I see. It was kind of Ukraine’s choice, but US and UK saying they’d have Ukraine’s back probably tipped the scales significantly. I understand why Putin wouldn’t want such a close neighbor being a NATO member, and preemptively laid claim to the territory and started a war that (surprise, surprise) US and UK don’t like financing. Still, I think Putin might not have been so bold if Trump wasn’t such a fanboy and there had been some actual repurcussions for Crimea under Obama.

Ah my bad. It’s still early in my part of the world. So hadn’t Trump also been talking about NATO in a manner that kind of undermined its strength and encouraged an attack from Russia during his presidency as well?

You’re not wrong, but which came first, Biden & UK saying that stuff to Zelensky, or Trump getting cozy with Putin on Twitter, meeting with him privately in Helsinki, Russia’s election interference, and Trump’s insurrection attempt, and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine? Maybe I’m just not clear on the timeline. Would you mind putting those in chronological order for me?
