  • My pet theory is actually that Bernie helped, rather than gutted HRC/Biden. Through his primary campaign so many young people became convinced to vote Democrat. Even if Berniebros were disappointed, most of them still voted for a Democrat in the general election.

One thing you could really see in this election was that confused progressives moved to Trump (or stayed home) after a successful misinformation campaign. Would have been far harder for that misinformation to find a home, if progressive voters had already voted in the Democratic primary, and their preferred candidate had pointed them to the winner of the primary.

You could even see this on the GOP side. Because Hailey supported Trump, almost no GOP voters defected in the general election which ultimately resulted in the complete failure of the Democratic strategy.

TLDR: primaries with a wide variety of choices are extremely helpful in the General election.

  • This could actually be a good starting point for a nationwide action. Very few collective actions are as effective as a nationwide teacher strike. The call to action is also relatively straightforward. Something like “D.C. shouldn’t regulate what we teach in our classrooms “.

  • It must be horrific to talk to Trump in person. He smells horrible, his moods swing constantly, he has incredibly stupid takes on issues you are an expert in, and he requires constant praise. If you take your hot wife with you he’ll be ogling her constantly. Nurses probably go out of their way to see another patient when he’s at the hospital.

Now you are one of the richest men in the world, and you have to pretend you like him. I mean, something must be seriously wrong with you if you got fuck-you money and still degrade yourself to those levels.

  • Rather unfortunately, the mass deportations was one of the most popular parts of Trump’s platform. Everybody knows mass deportation comes with concentration camps. It’s not that his voters are unaware of it, they actively love it!

  • Professioneel athletes typically require insane things from their body. You shouldn’t underestimate how much these guys do in terms of exercise. At the same time, they should realise that their nutrition regime (incl. hydration ) is wrong for everyone who is not a professional athlete.

  • It’s ridiculous to think that there would still be an alliance of “Western Countries”. The Greenland thing, the threats related to NATO, tariff threats, techbros weaponising the US government to escape regulation in Europe etc etc. China is the FAR more reliable partner for Europe and South America. Good luck blocking the Chinese software in the US, but I think you will find no friends with your new leader in place.

  • That’s the thing: if the cost of AI goes down , and AI is a valuable input to businesses that should be a good thing for the economy. To be sure, not for the tech sector that sells these models, but for all of the companies buying these services it should be great.

  • Actually to me this doesn’t sound so bad. Yes OP is rejected and that sucks. Beyond that they ask you to fill out a survey which they hope will improve their future hiring process. I am sceptical that they will get anything useful out of the survey, but I really do not see the problem tbh.

  • I really hate that this is the top comment. Two things can be true at the same time. Dems messed up in the previous election and narrowly lost against the worst candidate to ever run for president,AND voter suppression is real and will become a much larger problem going forward. Under Trump, nothing is stopping Republicans from enacting voter suppression laws the likes of which you have never seen before. Trump won’t need to steal the election for his third term (yes he will run if he’s still alive!), because the states will do it for him by suppressing the votes.

Now you may think that you are protected from a third term by the constitution. You may think you are protected against things like poll taxes, tests etc. But do you honestly believe the SC is on your side?

The Dems messed up this election. Voter suppression will ensure that there will no longer be fair elections in the future.

  • Yes I think that’s possible, but it’s a strategy that will surely fail. They cannot very well pass the GOP on the right, and they cannot out-Trump Trump. The 2024 election has shown that there were insufficient moderate voters. The upcoming cycle will teach the Dems that there are now also insufficient moderate donors.

Only chance to win is to go towards economic populism, and with Trumps billionaire cabinet it has never been easier.

  • This is not just an issue in translation. Anybody who summarises his speeches in English will struggle to extract the meaning. Reporting should always mention this issue in the first line. A disclaimer like: «it’s difficult to make heads or tails from Trumps speech do to his incoherent speech. Below is our best attempt.» should be a preface to all reporting.
