  • Carney said in his speach that he would also reverse the capital gains tax increase. So Poilièvre now lost these following arguments:

    -Carbon tax

    -Capital gains tax

    -Trudeau bad

What does he have left? He can't even attack Trump because a good part of his followers are Maga cultists.

PP is toast and he knows it.

  • Interesting article, thanks.

I am, however, having a very hard time attributing this level of planning and sophistication to a man who can barely put a coherent sentence together, or read more than one page of text. I can't say I find his administration to be all that much better in those regards.

I'm leaning more towards total improvisation. But what do I know? I'm certainly not an economist.

  • Now, now, Trump does have Musk. I've been told he's the real life Tony Stark.

Can't wait to see his solution to hydrate crops.

  • With ICE raiding farms, I feel this is the perfect opportunity to get the message across to farmers, who are, for a good part, pro-Trump.

  • Neat tool. It's a shame it doesn't cover more provinces and politicians but it's a good start.

  • Who knew high school drama teach would be such incredibly relevant job experience.

    I'm definitely using that one.

  • It remains to be seen what the much bigger tarifs package is gonna cover:

_Tuesday’s tariffs are the first of two phases announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Saturday, said to total $30 billion in U.S. goods. A further round of tariffs on a wider list of American products, valued at $125 billion, is expected to come into effect 21 days later, following a public comment period.

This second list will be made available in the coming days, and will include passenger vehicles, trucks and buses, recreational vehicles and boats, steel and aluminum products, aerospace products, and more, according to the finance department. _

  • Why do I get the feeling we're heading for another crash like 2008?

Have the banks not learned their lesson? Don't they know the tax payers will bail them out and that no one will ever go to prison?

That slap on the wrist is really gonna sting this time!

  • I find this to be actually better: his empire will either be split up and weakened by the kids infighting, or turned into something completely against everything he worked all his life to accomplish.

We get the added bonus that he will know this, think about it, and be angry about it, until the day he dies.

I, for one, am very happy.

  • It would be a real shame if the line got flooded with credible, false leads...

Putting the number here just to make sure nobody calls it by accident.

  • He's just using this as leverage to get more concessions out of Canada and Mexico. He's announcing the tariffs months before he can even try to implement them.

It's gonna work too. Look how we're scrambling about border security in Canada now.

I wish the rest of the world would just stand up to him and impose the same tarifs on the US. He would cave: he's just a bully full of hot air. And I'm being nice.

The US consumer could finally get to see what they actually voted for.

But what do I know: actions don't seem to have consequences anymore.

  • Sorry this is taking so long between replies. You know, life stuff...

So I'm still at "Operating system not found”.

Here are screen captures taken with the Pop_OS live usb. First is from Disks, second is GParted.

Am I crazy or there's no boot partition? At this point I'm ready to switch to another distro but I'm still conviced I'm doing something incredibly stupid and I might learn something.

  • For me, this paragraph sums it up:

_Several campaign officials had told me, throughout the spring and summer, how excited they were about working in the next Trump White House. Now those same people were telling me—as paperwork was being distributed internally to begin the process of placing personnel on the transition team and in the prospective administration—that they’d had a change of heart. The past three months had been the most unpleasant of their careers. Win or lose, they said, they were done with the chaos of Donald Trump—even if the nation was not. _

They had to be right next to Trump to realize how toxic he is. How voluntarily blind can you be?

They're gonna save themselves (of course), but will they do anything to save the country from Trump? No, of course not, that would require a spine.
