  • Let me reverse this question and ask what is the benefit of dynamic typing? What is gained from vaguely defined objects?

The purpose of typed languages is to ensure the bare minimum when it comes to safety. That when you're accessing a field of an object that field is real, and that field is always going to be an int or a string.

Try/catch only goes so far before it becomes way more cumbersome than necessary, as is checking every field of an object.

Typescript is an example of a language that does static typing poorly, because by design it has to. It's a quick bandaid fix over an inherently awful language.

  • No. Dynamic typing, though, is absolutely a fad.

  • And on the other side I've been ddosed multiple times for trying to start a casual conversation in CSGO deathmatch lobbies.

Some people are deserving of titles like sweat and tryhard.

  • It's not a real slang term as far as I'm aware, it's just a mock slang term that showed up because skibidi toilet happened to also be a meme around the time zoomer slang became a meme.

  • I see more posts complaining about annoying arch users than I actually see annoying arch users

That being said, hell yeah mint

  • Man that'd make my browsing experience exponentially better

  • Windows users will say this and then call you slurs when you even suggest other options exist

  • This is good. I like this actual explanation way more than the shitty bus metaphor.

  • Vinyls break easily and sound kinda meh, even with decent equipment. CDs have fairly good quality and are easy to store and handle. Honestly I get why people like vinyl, big discs are fun and tinkering with analog stuff is its own hobby, but when it comes to collecting I prefer CDs.

  • Can't think of the most difficult problem, but I have managed to solve a lot of problems with btrfs snapshots.

  • VR pretty much just worked for me with my vive. Had some issues with weird stuttering and tearing but I managed to find a solution in some config file.

  • What you are seeing is the internet in its true form. Trekkies and computer nerds are the only native fauna of the internet, everyone else is an invasive species.

  • If that happened it'd be the year of the linux desktop.

  • On Linux (Mesa), this feature is known as PRIME.

OH THAT'S WHY IT'S CALLED OPTIMUS

  • I know, it's a joke lol

  • I know, I meant this mostly ironically. Also, the arch colors fit the car much better so I didn't have to change those.

  • Even more real linux experience: The turn signal is well documented, labeled really obviously, and anyone will point you in the proper direction, but when you use them the brakes stop working because of an undocumented bug in a proprietary windshield wiper driver, and only you seem to have this problem.

  • Oh so that's why xwayland apps stutter so horribly
