I agree with you, and can't understand how it is so hard for people to grasp. It is a popularity contest, a numbers game. If you give votes to a candidate who has less than 1% chance of winning the election, you're basically not voting at all. Our election system does not allow for third parties to ever realistically win.
Idk I've spent the last year doing what OP says and my youtube algorithm knows me so well I lose hours upon hours. It is like a firehose of all my hobbies. I don't get any politics recommended to me at all, right or left.
althub.co.za has been a decent indexer for ebooks for me. But ebooks are just not as readily available on usenets. And new books are rarely available upon release. I'll manually download from libgen and import to readarr in those cases.
I dislike it, so I joined a gym with a social aspect to it which keeps me accountable. And I love how I look now that I work out a lot, being comfortable shirtless in public like at a pool or beach and feeling confident in my body combined with the social aspect is enough to not mind dreading the workouts.
Meanwhile Trumps children and Jared Kushner did have much of that and they're likely criminals. But of course if these people could think, they wouldn't be Trump supporters.
I remember learning in high school about the corruption under Herbert Hoover's administration and the entire federal government at the time. They made it out to seem like those days are behind us. The curriculum needs updating because those days never ended.

Not necessarily defending the church, because screw the church. But the church played both sides since it's a big institution. My grandmother and her sister were hidden in a Catholic church in Belgium before the war while their parents were constantly moving from place to place to avoid the gestapo. Meanwhile other churches turned in Jews and hid Nazis after the war. Of course, they kicked my grandmother out when her sister put up a fuss about being baptized so their parents took them back and found their way to America before 1942.
