That all predates an algorithm that wants to make you angry. The internet was better before people got good at squeezing every cent out of it.

I mean, when the maga types burn books, I roll my eyes and chuckle that they still paid the author for a copy. I remember video one maga book burning where a gay(?) man throw a bible in and drove off when the chuds realized what had happened.

Let them burn books. You can't destroy ideas that way in the 21st century.

We kinda need lobbying and it would be very hard to effectively criminalize it. It would just move father into the back rooms. When I say we need it, groups like the EFF, NAACP, FFRF and ACLU all have lobbying arms.

A different idea proposed by Lawrence Lessig would be to remove elected officials from the legislative branch and replace it it something like the Jury Duty system from the court systems. While not perfect, it would be much harder to bribe a constantly rotating group of civilians and most people will vote in their interest even when it's against their party alignment on a case by case bases.

Lobbyists would become like courtroom lawyers either pushing for or against certain laws in a public settings.

Agreed, but getting an increase in minimum wage would get the ball rolling on other worker right reforms.

Combine that with the fact that this town looks like it has a very slow life style, it wouldn't be weird to have to wait a month or so for an order. Everyone probably knows each other and if there was an emergency, there would be someone nearby to help patch a roof, even if it was just throwing a tarp over it.

I can't find the article that mentioned his shift in political views, but he was a hardcore alt-right type before realizing that's who swindled his mother.

One thing that does change depending on when the article was written is Abe's connection with the church and the church's connections to the Japanese and South Korean governments. Police withheld certain details until after the elections and approval ratings for the party dropped after. Generally, people aren't too happy with that and there was even push back about the government paying for Abe's funeral.

His story is amazing. Radicalized by the equivalent of Japan's alt right, then when he realized that's who exactly grifted his mother to give away the family wealth, turned his attention to that.

Short term, raise the minimum wage. Force walmart to fill the gaps between what they pay and what their workers need to live. Right now, it's the government is subsidizing that gap.
