Washington's government and people are absolutely not docile. Our new governor sued Trump's administration some hundred times when he was the attorney general, and we were the first state in the country to have ever had a general strike. One of our judges was the first to put an injunction on his birthright citizenship revocation order.

People like to talk about California being progressive, but we have them beat.

I do. I almost never drink something without a straw. But for me, it's due to medical issues. Straws make my life easier.

You don't have to tip a plumber or a mechanic. They both charge for their time at pretty high rates.

I would tip them if it was on a holiday or in horrible weather or something.

Tipping movers is absolutely standard. I usually give about 40 bucks cash per person. Depends how difficult your move is.

I don't agree that tipping plumbers is a thing. And my dad is a plumber, so I think I would know.

I've never heard that one, but I have heard people argue for a hot dog being a sandwich.

I don't think that's weird. A lot of people don't know that "the state" means "the country" unless you are specifically talking about individual states within a country. I can see how that could be confusing for somebody who doesn't know better.

I'm reminded of when I was in like 8th grade or something and I was confused about how the UK can be a country but England and Scotland and Wales and Northern Ireland are also countries. Similar concept.
