  • It's one line as part of a larger function. Also, it doesn't actually say weekend, it just executes some other functionality if !(day % 6). I made it more readable so that everyone here could understand what it does

  • The problem is I learned how to write good code at university and I used what I learned to inform the software architecture. I could write garbage that gets the same job done but isn't maintainable, except for the fact that I want to show this off as a display of my skill. I already did the best I could do on the company clock. If I do the best I can do again, it'll be the same. I can't make significant changes outside of language, variables, and dependencies, because then it wouldn't be as good. The structure I made for the company is simply good design. I don't remember every detail of the structure, but if I tried to rebuild it I'd get the same result. This is a problem with a correct answer.

  • Umbridge shows up in book 6 or 7, and she's got PTSD from whatever the centaurs did to her. Based on the myths about centaurs, it would appear to have been rape. Hermione says "watch this", and makes clip-clop horsey sounds and Umbridge has a panic attack. Harry and Ron laugh.

  • TOS: In the future, Americans and Russians will work side by side

TNG: where do we draw the line between respecting foreign cultures and respecting trans people? (BTW this is still relevant. Ask a Hispanic conservative their opinion on "latine")

DS9: Gee it sure was fucked that we couldn't have black people as Starfleet captains until now. Let's show you exactly what the 50s were like for black people

VOY: Hey what if we hired a fraud as a native American consultant and made the captain a massive racist for drama?

ENT: It's a prequel, so we have to make Starfleet less progressive somehow. I know, make the black and the Asian the lowest ranking officers on the ship and give them the worst writing

DIS: idk I didn't watch it but apparently they think nonbinary people are new to Star Trek

PIC: Let's make the worst and most right wing part of the Borg a central plot point I guess

SNW: Star Trek is finally getting a blind actor! And we're gonna kill him off after one season!

LDS: Hey what if we tried being progressive again and made a black lesbian a well written main character without either of those things being plot relevant because it's the future and these things aren't marginalised anymore?

PRO: I like where your head's at Lower Decks, but let's also ask thorny questions about the value of cultural isolationism without giving a simple right answer

  • Exactly, it's not science. And it's not helpful either. It doesn't simplify communication. The representative conventions of taxonomy are not derived from evidence, they're derived from the irrelevant feelings of taxonomists hundreds of years ago who didn't understand how the world works. It's pseudoscience. Pointless tradition masquerading as a legitimate exploratory endeavour.

  • Police spending money on detectives, cybersecurity experts, tax analysts, wage theft investigations: ✋

Police spending money on weapons 👉

We need to get rid of the police and replace them with some sort of task force dedicated to solving crimes.

  • Because bad actors like fossil fuel and car companies will say "look, the government is funding fusion. Don't make us go renewable now, just wait five years until fusion is here." You have to consider the political impacts pursuing research will have on society's perceptions. Even if you know your project is just a wild experiment that probably won't work, journalists won't.

  • !Stars don't go from yellow to supernova in 22 minutes. I'm with the Hearthians and the Nomai who are confused AF that the universe is dying. Drum guy was wrong that the universe is older than we thought, that's a theory he came up with in 22 minutes because he had no time to investigate further. If you come back early in the loop and say the universe is old, he doesn't believe you and tries to find an alternate theory, because that hypothesis just doesn't make much sense.!<
