  • Maybe not. Like every new format, Flatpak probably had some rough edges at first, and a software as complex as Steam must have been a nightmare to convert. It was probably broken at first, but it was probably enough for some to consider it as unredeemable.

  • After many years playing on the Flatpaked Steam, I'm yet to see any problem.

  • You could try the Flatpak version. At least your OS will be clean, and the only 32-bits parts will be inside the flatpak runtimes.

  • It is also a possibility to get a MB without WiFi and add an add-on pcie board. Like that it is possible to upgrade that part too.

Edit : Bonus point if you take one with removable wifi chip, like that one, as you can upgrade for cheaper (buy a $30 laptop card and swap it on the add-on card, and you are good to go), and reduce e-waste.

  • Are they gas powered or electric?

  • If you find one that seen interesting to debate upon, reply to it.
For the other, don't waste your time on them and just downvote.

The vote system was made for this reason.

  • Still out of context.

If this was a reply calling on someone baselessly criticizing the game, I'd allow it, but OP just posted an article that doesn't even criticize the game.

Still, thank you for your edit.

  • Please stay civil (rule 2).

If you come across such comment, please reply to them instead of OP, maybe you will start some interesting debate instead of just try to stir conflict in the community.

  • He is on Mastodon, that's how Federation works between Lemmy and Mastodon.

  • I spent quite a lot of time on the Switch, just talking with random people and helping new players. It is a very special games. Found my first love in there too. 😇

  • Problem is, with an instance as huge as LW, it has some moderation obligations in many countries that may have opened them to be litigated for multiple millions €, considering its size. It is more a question of survival, not because of some power-hungry admin.

I can understand your point of view, but the TOS is clear about piracy and piracy discutions (see : https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/#41-piracy), and thus they are required to remove those communities if they break those terms (they are legally binding).

Anyone who doesn't want to comply with those TOS can, as you pointed out, move to another instance. It is one of the beauty of the Fediverse. In this case, the one who will be responsible in the case of a litigation is lemmy.ca, and not lemmy.world anymore.

  • Did you mean "purrrging"?

  • Sure, how else could her guards stay on her sides?

  • And I thought my cat whiskers were huge. Those are a category on their own.

  • The rules are the rules.
They were collectively written to keep conversation as non-toxic as possible. If you wish to change them, feel free to create a topic on the matter.
In the meantime, my work is to upheld them.

  • In an ideal world, yes.
But unfortunately these days people prefer to follow blindly their bias and people validating said bias instead of investing the time required to investigate by their own mean, with least biased sources.
I'd blame social medias that make everything quasi instantaneous, but it is just a component of a whole, not the only cause.
