  • And yet your hypothesis is clearly false, since until now they all used the grid and the grid was not improved.

Also, vast majority of companies will keep using the grid. It just doesn't make sense for a data center that uses a good chunk of nuclear powerplants output.

  • nullification as a right

Neither does US recognize it as a right. No matter whether you believe jury nullification is a perversion of justice or irreplaceable bulwark against tyranny, it's origin can't be disputed. Jury nullification is not a right that was ever recognized explicitly, but an unintended side-effect of other rights (right to jury trial and jury verdicts being final).

  • What the fuck. How did journalism get this utterly fucked?

Experts point to a phenomenon called jury nullification, which occurs when a jury votes to acquit a defendant even though they may believe they committed a crime.

No, there is no "may"! It is jury nullification only when the jury believes the defendant committed a crime. There is no "may" about it.

Fucking so afraid to actually write something they will insert this uncertain language everywhere to the point it doesn't even make sense.

What is the point in reading your article, when even you don't seem to believe what you are writing is correct?!

  • I am so tempted, so tempted to write yes. But no, at the end of the day, I don't think speech should be regulated like that. If we as a society don't learn to distinguish truth from bullshit, democracy can't survive.

    EU absolutely is a country.

    Also, fuck you.

  • People should celebrate DE ESCALATING conflict, not inflaming it

    In theory, yes.

I mean, at least it's logically consistent

No. Think about it. Would you really want to agree to peace as Russia, if every day you delay you gain more territory? Pausing support gives Russia every incentive to keep figting.

Especially since pause in support can't be easily undone. It takes about 3 months from US deciding to send heavy equipment to it arriving at the front lines. A lot longer for jets.

So it is in Russias best interest to stall 3 months (pretend to negotiate) until Biden's shipments all arrive and no more is on its way, then push as hard as they can for 3 months until the equipment sent to punish Russia arrives and then finally negotiate.

Funny that the announced pause is for 3 months. I am sure that is a coincidence.

  • Yeah, courts often interpret poorly written stuff based on the intention gleamed from it.

I just found it funny how poorly written it was.

belonging to the sex that produces...

I read it as it defines "belonging to the male sex" as being able to produce small reproductive cells at conception, because the alternative is just cyclical nonsense. You are male if you belong to the male sex at conception. How do you know if you belong to that sex at conception? Who knows. You would have to have an outside definition to interpret it, in which case why bother writing that...

    1. The order speaks about sex, and defines gender identity as pointless fantasy. So abolishing gender identity was the intended purpose.
    2. It defines every human as belonging to neither of the 2 sexes. There is pretty much no other way to read it.
    3. It does not define anyone as female. These people just apparently either can't read or just refuse to. Idk which one is more sad.
  • Because their entertaining videos with cool rare/expensive tech are entertaining. I avoid reviews from them at this point (which is disappointing since Labs had potential), but the cool home server stuff or x Gamers 1 PC are just cool and there is not much like it elsewhere on YT.

  • Right, so if you massively extend your proposal, it could maybe make sense to a nontechnical person. Congratulations. Your original idea of just blocking google is still stupid and counterproductive to your stated goal.

Anyway, the real issue isn't lack of competitors. It is vendor lock-in and lack of independent data backups. It would take significant effort for most companies to migrate from one cloud provider to another, since different providers use slightly different, incompatible technologies. And of course, if a cloud provider went down suddenly, a lot of data would be lost.

  • There is 0% possibility the US gov could do it covertly.

Sure, they could force it overtly but the rest of the world would have forks of Browsers like 15 minutes after it went through.

Besides, there is no need to go after the browsers. If you want a fake cert for a few days, EU has trusted certificate authorities just like the US that can issue a cert for any website (CAs are usually not restricted to specific TLDs). The CA would just get removed from browsers within days, same as browsers being replaced.

PS: Btw, iTrusChina is also a trusted CA. If the US is not concerned about their main adversary, China, forging certificates, why should EU be worried about an ally doing so?

  • How do you not see, that banning one company would just increase the monopoly the remaining companies hold?

Google is not even the largest cloud provider. Amazon's AWS has 30%, Microsoft's Azure 20%, Google is third with 12%.

You can't "bust monopolies" by reducing the number of options. You need to increase the number of competitiors.

  • Ok, I disagree, but let's say it wouldn't. You admit yourself it would still be hard. What is the advantage of doing it? What is that mythical "progress" of yours, that would be achieved by blocking google cloud, as opposed to just search and whatever other problematic service?
