  • I don’t know if you’re being serious but what does that have to do with anything? In Italian the word for “beard” is feminine, I can assure you nobody links it with femininity in any way. Just because the neutral gender doesn’t exist that doesn’t mean everything is actually gendered.

  • Italian here, a bit of info:

The meeting in Modena will likely get cancelled. The mayor published an update today on his social media where he claims that an administrative investigation will take place where the grant of public space will be reconsidered in light of the information about the event. It was probably granted as an oversight.

The meeting with dugin will happen and can’t not happen. Dugin will be in video call from Russia. The call will take place in a private structure, there is nothing anybody - even the police - can do about it. There will be protests. I will be there. But the event will take place regardless.

If y’all and I gather in my living room and we make cheerful poems about the holocaust and chant heil Hitler to each other’s face it’s still legal. You can say anything you want in your private space. This is not Russia, as much as those pieces of shit gathering there would like to.

  • I can’t see the whole thread while replying so I can’t assume I’m talking to the same person as the time before, hence the third person. If that was always you then feel free to replace it with a second, as it was meant to be.

There were no personal insults. Your post was silly. You may be a very nice person and probably very smart as well, but your post was still silly. There, second person used.

What you said made zero sense, had no connection to reality, and was strongly reinforcing the cancer of contemporary democracy that is polarisation. Your content - not you - is very very bad.

There is nothing wrong with it, everybody says stupid stuff from time to time - I do it too according to the amount of downvotes I got - but I take none of the disagreements with my contents as attacks on my person. I would encourage you to do the same.

  • No shit logical consistency is good and irrational behaviour is bad. Glad we agree.

The thing is, who’s the judge on who is irrational and who is logic? It’s such a polarised society that we live in nowadays, whoever you ask will say that their faction is the only logical one while the “other” is a bunch of marauding orcs.

Now this guy I replied to went and did the same trite “us logic, them stupid” take, accusing moderate people of some bad stuff as if that word meant anything, as if there was a “moderate” party that did anything concrete

Not just that, when polarisation is gutting our democracy, this guy attacks moderates as if extremism was the only orthodoxy. Loony bin material.

Far from me to be a both-side-er, I have my firm and very partisan convictions - but that has nothing to do with how silly the comment I replied to was.

  • That was exactly my point. Blocking instances because “that way my content can’t be seen there” doesn’t make sense, because it’s trivial to bypass it. Yes, even a screenshot will do the job if nothing else, so why talk about protocols in the first place?

Somebody (maybe you maybe not, can’t check while replying) said that blocking instances was useful so that “my content doesn’t get seen / shared / pushed / etc to people and instances I don’t want”. That doesn’t make sense because of the line above. If you need clarification on who are those people and what are those instances ask them, not me.

I hope I’m somehow conveying my message. If there is a subtlety in the subject that I didn’t catch feel free to help me understand.

  • And what’s stopping these people and these instances from spreading that content using just the publicly available link? Instead of just clicking “share” they’ll have to open an anonymous browser window and copy paste the link from there, the horror!

  • Anecdotal stuff from Italy: 5 years ago you could buy EVO for some 3 euro /lt at the supermarket, or super delicious local oil for 10/lt. This year it’s 6/lt for supermarket, and average for local oil has gone 14 - 18 - 20/lt in the last 3 years.

If olive oil didn’t spoil it would be better than real estate.

  • I don’t need to be constructive because I’m not talking to the show writers or anybody who is responsible for it. I’m in a community of fans, I thought we could just speak our minds about stuff here and say it sucks when it sucks.

Yes I wrote “objectively” because i didn’t just dislike the show out of personal taste, but because the writing is atrocious (ask anybody who knows anything about writing, it’s trite and shallow) and the Star Trek element just is not there. Call the first one subjective, but you can’t argue with the latter.

There are plenty of things about the show I dislike subjectively, and if you want I can write an essay on it - but that was not the point of my comment. The show has traits that are arguably bad regardless of taste. You may personally like to hear the ramblings of a drunk junkie and find plenty of amusement in doing so, and if that is the case then more power to you. But it doesn’t make it good material.
