  • sh.itjust.works Managed to finish in only 27 minutes which was much sooner than the estimated time. Lemmy.world might finish quickly too, estimated time is just a maximum, it isn't always going to be the amount of time it will take.

  • All users will have to login again, 2FA was completely reset, so people who were locked out are now back in.

  • I guess it's kind of like how they allowed ads for crap like "what is a woman". At the end of the day it's all alt-right propaganda that they are putting out either to get people to join their side or to make it seem like their side is correct.

  • You can usually find archived versions of the pages on internet Archive and Archive.today.

  • Very much agree, I feel like everyone should at least give them a try, they're very comfy.

  • One example I can think of is how cis people (usually cis males) who choose to crossdress are often misgendered, made fun of, and told they must not be cis because of how they dress.

Though I'm not really sure if this actually counts because these issues I described also affect trans people who are gender Non-Conforming, in very similar ways.

What's more likely is that their comment is just a funny joke, where they swapped the roles of cis and trans in the passage and the joke part is that it sounds absurd and isn't supposed to make sense.

  • I think you're misunderstanding, this isn't a raspberry Pi type emulation device, this is a hardware clone of the chips in a real GBC, it even plays the original cartridges, and also flashcarts (well mostly, there's a few kinks there because it's new).

  • Also people could be misled into thinking it's a "free speech" platform (and end up attracting the people we really don't want), or end up thinking it's "complicated", both of which would not be desirable.

  • I don't think really anything, it just takes more effort and they'd need to change the domain every time they get blocked. I have seen a few services hosted solely for spam and bad faith practices, though they were Mastodon, Plemora, and Kbin servers, not Lemmy.

  • Well maybe I wouldn't necessarily call it moderation but it has a site admin that bans people and neighborhoods (IP ranges) for really nasty stuff (like child abuse material). Nostr doesn't even have that though, some nodes may remove content, but most don't, and people effectively can't be banned.

  • I mean Nostr is also a piece of shit but for different reasons, it's basically 4chan but without any moderation at all.

  • Indeed it is. Unfortunately though it's also important enough that it means people will go along with fascist stuff if the "security" excuse is used, and people who stand up to it will be mocked and ridiculed at best, or be accused of being cyber attackers at worst.

  • The trick is you have to do it on an Instance with the correct demographic, also make sure to use tools like LCB to get them out to other instances, so they'll appear in search.

  • Well... Not really any, I just decided to create them.

There are ones that I'm planning to create in the future but haven't gotten around to it yet.

  • Same with plastic companies trying to encourage plastic recycling, they're only doing it because the real solution is to ban or regulate their business.

  • @snek@lemmy.world Maybe you could Crosspost this to !politicalmemes@lemmy.ca if you're on mobile and don't have crosspost button just make a new post using the same link as this post https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/20e095d5-b044-4e69-b1d7-486f63ac3037.png and it'll count as a crosspost. So long as it's the same link.

  • Do you think they'd accept it on memes?

  • Very true, ActivityPub is for building communities.

Nostr is for free speech and user choice but also sucks for building communities because the loudest and most mean people are the ones who dominate the space.

  • Don't forget about the alt-right trolls and conspiracy theorists, they love it there because nobody can ban or censor them from there. On Nostr these people run wild.
