It has been discussed and db0 didn't want to do it because of increased hosting costs associated. At least we have it enabled for outgoing communities from this instance, to allow the ones here to be easily discoverable by others.
Use flatpak for anything newer. Most things are already available as flatpak, only things I haven't seen available are terminal based applications as Flatpak.
Though maybe in a future version we might get that capability. I've always been told you can't install terminal based applications like neofetch or bpyTOP as flatpak. Which is kind of a bummer but not that big of a deal.
VLC should just work with everything needed to play DVDs. Like other commenters are saying there's probably something else wrong if VLC isn't working to play your DVDs.
The main Reason I've done it is to install KOreader since it handles other formats, especially PDFs better than the stock Reader. Though you can also run your own homebrew apps as well like other people have pointed out. I personally don't bother though since Ereaders are usually best for a single purpose, reading ebooks on an eink display, and mediocre at best for other applications. The eink display tends to be its Achilles heel when it comes to anything that isn't reading ebooks, at least in my opinion.
The multiplayer in this game is cool, being able to play with random people and only know who they are at the en. Though, I do wish people could play locally together or invite friends to play directly.
It's good they finally do that now. I know in the past they didn't. Which seems really weird since admins can get it easily looking in the DB, so they're not really protecting against anything by hiding it from them in lemmy-UI.
I never tried it on my Steam Deck but I did try it out on my PC and it ran miserably there, even though my laptop is a pretty powerful Gaming laptop. I couldn't imagine actually playing the game to completion that way. I also encountered lots and lots of bugs in the game, in addition to poor performance.
You can use Audacity to record from the Speaker output internally. Just make sure there isn't anything else running that could interfere or make noise (anything connected to push notifications), and you should definitely make sure volume isn't too high else it'll peak and distort.
Avoid Spotify Downloaders, they are a Scam that often just searches for the music on YouTube. For true Spotify exclusives (or ones that just aren't on YouTube) the songs from those will be wrong, or if they're a downloader that is better at matching the songs, will just error because it couldn't find it.
Is that actually true? I mean it would make sense but I've seen the applications interface before and it had no way to see the email, you had to go into the DB to see it.
@db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com is this still true, does Lemmy let you see email on applications? Or does seeing them still require going into the DB. If it does would you mind DMing me a screenshot of my application so I can see how different it looks from last time I saw it (0.18.4)?
Absolutely. Here are screenshots of the email notifications I received, as well as some of the disgusting DMs they sent me (I censored it):
This is all from the first time.
Here's also one of the DMs they spammed me recently:
Yes I censored this one as well.
