  • Info on Wikipedia shouldn't be taken at face value, check the sources given! A lot of the examples you gave likely didn't have any citation. The blame for misinformation partly lies with the people accepting information with no sources given. Also, any example of known misinformation just means that it has been caught and corrected. Everyone should know wikipedia is not right 100% of the time but it is always getting better. There millions of articles and I don't think the examples you listed should lead anyone to believe it is overall unreliable. It is good however to not blindly put your trust in whatever you read from it, and if you do come across something that isn't correct, you have the opportunity to fix it.

  • Let's say you're absolutely 100% correct. Does that mean that claiming that you've been hit, diving onto the ground, and unloading a full clip at a handcuffed individual inside your own vehicle is the appropriate immediate response?

  • I agree he should receive a higher compensation, but have no idea what that should be. I can't look at it in terms of dollars per hour and think of an appropriate amount worth giving up 40 years of life. If I was in that position I don't think 1billion would be fair.

  • That's like saying Twitter isn't social media because its a microblog. Lemmy is definitely social media. We have profiles, can add each other as friends, send private messages, etc. It's not structured the same as most other social media websites, but it is social media

  • I had an extension called Toby that opened a new tab and had an awesome page to organize bookmarks and open tabs. I can’t remember what I’m using on Firefox right now as I’m not at the computer, but it’s probably the most popular bookmark organizer. IMO Toby is just way ahead of anything I’ve found on Firefox.

  • I used it for years and just recently switched to Firefox. I was just comfortable using it, and knew how to use the dev tools. I had my extensions set up how I liked. I’m still missing a few things on Firefox but fuck chrome.

  • I wasn’t trying to create an argument, just pointing out not all of those instances are bad. No I didn’t assume that was all of what you meant. To me, it seemed like you didn’t understand the goal of instances like programming.dev. I try to keep in mind that many people are still brand new to Lemmy and wanted to offer counterpoints to your original comment. I wasn’t trying to nitpick your comment, sorry if you got the wrong idea.
