I recently started looking into more decentralized instant messengers after being on signal for a year or so. I'm happy with signal but just wanted to look into what else is out there. I really don't get why XMPP gets left in the dust. I see so much praise for matrix, but every public group ive joined is full of spam bots and racists. Simplex is centralized. Even as far as the fediverse goes, I would've assumed everyone here would hype up XMPP since it works similarly with the username@instance.com convention.
I down voted them for the weird tirade about privilege and being an abused kid. Idk wtf that has to do with hating spotify, but lemmy would look much better without that garbage in the comments.
I'm not comparing it to racism, you're taking the wrong point from that. Protests aren't supposed to make you comfortable. They are meant to disrupt, even if you are just trying to mind your own business. Not every white person in my analogy is racist or against black rights, my point was to show how dumb they would be for voicing annoyance. Climate protestors didn't ruin your life or even your day, just like sit in protestors didn't harm anyone else. You are just dramatic and have main character syndrome.
That must be how innocent white people felt when their meals that they paid for were interrupted by black people illegally sitting in their restaurants. The other diners weren't to blame. Why didn't the protesters just go after Big Restaurant and leave the law abiding diners to exercise their right to dine in peace?
Where do you go to school that the sentence, "Sorry I'm late, protests caused the traffic to come to a stop." would force you to give up your right to have an education?
Recognizing when people need help and support doesn't mean you are trying to justify illegal acts. No one said stealing is ok. Just because you understand the root of the problem doesn't mean you are giving it a pass. This is why people with mental disorders still face consequences for their actions. However, if rehabilitation is something you value, then it is important to recognize that their needs may be different than other people's for rehabilitation to be successful. Punishment with no attempt at helping a person overcome their afflictions is just a guarantee that they will act out again.
I agree 100%. HVAC is not rocket science. As a matter of fact, I was instantly replaced after I quit. As was the guy that replaced me and so on.
The point I was trying to make is that despite being viewed as a "trade", HVAC technicians lean more towards the other user's definition of unskilled labor. If it isn't clear, i think the idea of unskilled labor is bullshit.
I don't know, I only got into PC gaming about 3 years ago but my library is easily twice as large as it was when I only had consoles for about 20 years. The initial cost of getting a PC with all the peripherals is quite a bit higher than console but the games are almost always significantly cheaper. The most recent AAA games and some studios like FromSoft are usually the only games selling at $70. On console, the price of a game barely gets lowered. I have a switch and wanted to buy overcooked to play on the go and it's still $20 dollars and has very few sales. On PC it's hard not to find it for less than $5 and that's not even counting key shops.
My girlfriend was in a similar situation. The people at FASFA will work with you if you can prove that your parents will not comply and you aren't financially dependent on them. As long as your friend wasn't living with her parents, she likely didn't have to get married.
A friend of mine found a loophole at a burrito shop as well. They had some old points system where you'd have to go to a url on the receipt, and enter a code for a free taco. Eventually the promotion ended because they stopped printing the URL, but they never shut down the webpage either. So he continued to get free tacos from the old webpage, but whatever proof of purchase was needed could be used from the same receipt used to get the previous free taco. He doesn't do it too often so no one catches on, but he would eat for free there once or twice a week.
The worst thing about a live service game to me is that they only work when you can connect to the official servers. Many live service games have shut down and there is no offline mode to continue playing. Sometimes you still pay full price for these games. Sometimes games like The Crew, shut down after you spent money to play it and then The Crew 2 comes out so you pay full price for essentially the same game and the first one doesn't work anymore.
