If you have AMD, for most titles it is as simple as installing a distro and then installing Steam. Then on Steam you will have to enable the compatibility tools, that is it. For Nvidia, setting up the drivers is a bit more finicky, however some distros will preconfigure it for you (such as Nobara, although personally I had a couple issues with this distro, YMMV)
You can search for games status on Linux via ProtonDB. In my experience they just work.
For WoW you might need to look up a YT tutorial to figure out the file paths, but the tldr is you need to install Battle.Net as a Non-Steam game, then launch it through Steam. This is generally a good, easy method for most non-steam titles, just installing it and adding it as a non-steam game.
According to ProtonDB flight sim should work, I habe no personal experience here.
I hadn’t seen ESDF in FPS, I personally used to use it in WoW.
But mousewheel scroll is actually a great jump bind for when you precisely need to input the next jump action to time it with the end of the last. This is less an FPS thing and more a movement thing. Spacebar (or other buttons) will only work if you hit it at the precise time, while mousewheel is a lot more forgiving, since it is multiple inputs in quick succession, kind of like the rapid-fire macros. Like I suck at bhopping for example, but I could do some easy bhop sequences in cs 1.6 with scrollwheel, there is no way I would be able to with spacebar.
Ads being trackers, and especially being a vector for malware is nothing new, yes screw ads, I block them, but I really don’t give a hoot if my neighbour blocks ads. I’m certainly not gonna go out of my way to preach the gospel of adblocking.
And part of the reason is the above - more people blocking ads will probably cause ad companies to make ad blocking more inconvenient, and you will end up with the same situation - only tech literate people will block ads.
Now don’t get me wrong, that is not the reason, just a reason, mostly I just don’t give a fuck if others block ads.
However when it comes to the idea in the OP, the reason does become more salient, because someone is going out of their way to preach the gospel of adblocking.
Obviously my original point was a bit lighthearted, realistically it doesn’t matter, I doubt any dev who would do this is making products to reach masses that do not already adblock, so this shit is probably just some virtue signaling anyway.
When I used android vanced was the biggest frustration ever, every couple of days I had to reinstall it which was a pita, especially because the realisation came just as I began my commute. Back then I was a broke college student, if I had cash back then I would have gladly payed for premium.
Now I have switched to apple, afaik something like PiHole would be the only thing to get ad-blocked youtube on my TV plus it comes bundled with YouTube music
Maybe not prevent entirely, but I am sure they can make it extremely inconvenient to block. Part of the reason I pay for Youtube Premium is that it would be just too much of a hassle to set up PiHole and manage it, to get that ad-free experience across all of my devices.
This is of course a non-US view, I’m not sure how different the laws are there. But marriage is a great one-stop shop that lets you get a lot of legal kerfuffles sorted in 20-30 minutes with nothing but a couple signatures. I don’t think it is a stupid reason, the stupidity comes from all the other bullshit people want to dump onto marriage.

Right now it is in a good position where the numbers just are not that high for advertisers to really give a hoot. Yes there is the ocasional shit like with YouTube, but the thing is - they are not really trying, they only put enough effort in to inconvenience, hoping more people will drop blocking.
However, if more people start blocking, I think they will be forced to find more concrete solutions, like the whole DRM fiasco.
Archinstall is perfectly fine, or EndeavourOS, they will make installing easy, i only use pacman and AUR for packages, anything not there Ive managed to build myself. This is the main reason I love arch, pacman + AUR are amazing.
You will probably want an AUR helper like yay or paru (doesn’t really matter which one for you, i prefer yay for sounding fun).
Nobara comes with DaVinci Resolve out of the box (or in the post install configuration screen at least).
That said I saw problems on Nobara I don’t have in arch that made me almost switch back to windows.
Decided to try arch before I switch back to windows, long story short have been on linux for two months without any plans of going back, the idea of windows now makes me wince.
So did you even read or just copy articles where the title agrees with you? The first one is “according to google”. The only article i saw crop up on google use the term derogatory(as per the article) to describe woo-woo was on medium, talking about how it makes people who believe in the supersticious and paranormal feel bad (much like the second article you linked). If you actually read them, you would see there is only one negative implication in the first article, and it is not in the origins of the word but in the “message” of “western superiority”, because god forbid we actually ask people to back up their claims.
