  • I do believe it is!

  • I don't disagree with that, but she knew exactly what she was brought in to do and jumped in with both feet. Would it have been someone else if she turned the gig down? Of course. But she said yes so it was her.

  • Thank you! I'm normally the crank making this comment. Also don't forget for the heroin example that the acetyl groups get cleaved after crossing the BBB so it goes back to being regular ol' morphine before it can bind to a receptor.

  • The Linux program that had a cat chase your mouse was Neko.

  • I remember Carly Fiorina getting hired and almost immediately things started turning to shit.

  • Smith in his appeal to the justices asked them to take the rare step of reviewing the issue before a federal appeals court in Washington, DC, weighs in.

There is nothing rare about the request. It's called "cert before judgement" and the DoJ used it 10 times in the four years that Trump was president.

It's most commonly used in a situation like this where the appeal is interlocutory meaning the appeal stops the trial cold while it's resolved.

  • My hopes were so high for the stupid thing. They couldn't tell the story in front of them that was already loaded with allegorical social justice issues. They had to reinterpret the entire thing and just plain fucked it up. Just sad.

  • Oh God The Witcher. The production team was handed an incredibly strong female lead character who was smarter, more politically astute, and more feared/respected than almost any other character in the series. And they immediately tore her down and made her a petty whining brat while claiming it was about female empowerment. A pox on Netflix and the entire production team.

  • I really despise this kind of both sidesism. Because the sides are demonstrably different.

  • Bacteria come from the environment. I don't understand how the iodine treatment you recommend prevents future exposure.

  • Reddit's image hosting is garbage.

    FIFY

  • He tried to plea down to a misdemeanor charge, but the judge did not like the deal.

I don't think this is the correct framing. The judge questioned the parties (required during a deal) and found that the parties disagreed on the interpretation of the deal and exposure to additional charges (highly unusual - these agreements are typically watertight). Since there was a disagreement there was no meeting of the minds and the deal fell apart. The judges feelings have nothing to do with it.

  • But...but... there's two left wings.

  • A pork belly enchilada at a little restaurant in Majorca. Bonus: it was both the best pork belly and the best enchilada I've ever had independent of those things together.

  • Can someone explain the anatomy to me here? I am really struggling with this.

  • I take a lot of that mold work with a figurative grain of salt. I'll confess I'm not familiar with the aspergillus literature, but stachybotrys risks are way overblown. The concerns are driven by courts rather than the medical literature.

The last time I had a deep dive into it there was a single case of stachybotrys poisoning which occurred when a farmhand fell into a silo of moldy hay. He had a complete recovery within 10 days. That was deep dive was 15 years ago so maybe something else has come up?

All of these molds are present in the environment. If you spend any time hiking in the woods or around hay or barns you are exposed to reasonably high levels.
