I eventually just uninstalled the app because of that.

Mostly because not all games work on Linux. Also so far I haven't found one with a good update policy. It's either bleeding edge or an update a year.

Not much. Somebody created a community called The_Donald (which wasn't even active) and the admin didn't immediately delete it. Then people that hate Trump demanded that their instance defederate because of that.

Defederating from extremistic or spammy instances should not be hurting regular users.

What I find annoying is when defederation happens because of individual communities on otherwise good instances. E.g. when that drama about shitjustworks started, because somebody created an empty The_Donald community there...

That's more or less the idea, just that you can use one account for all those forums. And sometimes interesting posts from other unknown forums show up in your main forum.

Teenagers should not be allowed to take on that much debt. That's literally the root cause of all college problems! Of course the tuitions will rise if everyone is apparently able to pay basically limitless amounts.

One Super simple way to fix this is to allow people to default on their student debts. That adds risk for the banks, with forces them to give appropriate amounts of money, which forces unis to lower tuitions to appropriate amounts.

I don't think I would even be less productive if I had to work only 3 or 4 days. I could focus / crunch more because I know that I have more time to rest.

We had this situation during covid where we could only work 3 days a week, and it was kinda nice since nobody was slacking and it was satisfying to just get things done... and then enjoy the long weekends.

To be fair if App A doesn't work there also isn't much that you can do about it. Trying another app is the troubleshooting.

They are probably referring to distros that for legal reasons don't include things like Codecs or proprietary drivers and stuff... and then you need to first research how to manually install those, after figuring out that you even need to do that at all...

That's exactly the issue... you need to properly use it. Most people don't, and can't be bothered to when Windows is just pre-installed and mostly doing its job alright...

PSA: If you need windows, and you can install it yourself, install the Education version. It comes with slightly less crap preinstalled. (For the license just massgrave.dev that shit...)
